I will try this as soon as I get a chance. I also am looking at Xi's X server. I downloaded the demo and tried to install it but could not find a combination of video board and monitor that was satisfying to me. I plan to contact Xi and talk to them today. Also, it wouldn't hurt to put them in the KPPP configs. John It should be enough to put them in the KPPP config, but be sure to establish (or override) a _default_ route to the ppp interface. That can also be specified as a checkbox in KPPP config. This is especially important if you also have ethernet (i.e., a private network) because then the installation will establish the default route (at boot) to the ethernet, which is just plain _wrong_ when you are accessing the Internet through the modem. By the way, this has _nothing_ whatsoever to do with Netscape, it is simply the way your network (TCP/IP) is configured. Whether Netscape is running or not, you can check access to the Internet by, e.g., ping www.some.hostname -- Jean-Louis Debert[EMAIL PROTECTED] 74 Annemasse France old Linux fan

It may be as simple to fix as just opening the /etc/ppp/options file and adding "noauth" without the quotes. Save and close the file and give it a try. You may need to comment out the "lock" entry as well.. On Thu, 29 Jun 2000, you wrote: Calvert, looks like possibly some DNS info is missing on your system. I've never used this drive, but are you mounting manually or is supermount handling this? Are you sure it is mounting with the correct filesystem type? What file system types do these drives use? Can I format a type using any FS I want? RE: [expert] Metro-X
The setup was very simple. The software comes in a rpm. Just init 3 to shutdown X and rpm -i to install. Create a link to the xConfig program that gets installed once X is back up and your good to go.
