And don't forget add your windows partition to lilo. You can do it
editing /etc/lilo.conf or booting in linux and running Control Panel
(drakconf) -> boot -> boot configuration

For LM 8.1:

- boot from rescue disk (or from the install CD with the option
"rescue")
- You will see instructions about running chroot to make your partition
the root partition (usually you must run 'chroot /mnt').
- run lilo and restart.

install windows first, and then linux.
if linux is already installed, re-install lilo and add the windowz entry
to your lilo.conf

Yes. You'll have problems though as NT4 insists on putting its boot loader on
the primary partition, which must be either FAT16 or NTFS. If the spare
partition is the first one, then you are fine.

> If I install windows will it take priority over my grub boot loader?

Yes.

What you'll have to do is make a boot disk - just use KLILO (I don't know
anything about GRUB) and save the boot loader to the disk. Then when you boot
into Linux again after installing NT you can use KLILO to put the boot loader
onto the MBR again.

A word of warning - NT4 is dumb when it comes to large drives, particular if
you have to use a BIOS patch to access it. Just don't cry too much if NT4
nukes your Linux partitions.

install grub on a floppy...then after windows is done trying to make itself
the only existing system, boot to your linux and reinstall grub in the mbr,
with a stanza for your nt...

NT4 will behave nicely and install itself without screwing up grub
or lilo.
Since the windows partition is already seen by grub, it should work
just fine after you install NT4.
Note that Win95/98 will NOT work fine - it will trash grub or lilo.

Yes, no problem. It should not format any partitions other than the ones
you tell it to format. While we're on formatting for NT, use FAT, not
NTFS, if you want to access the NT partition directly from Linux. You will
want to mount for Linux using the VFAT file system.

I would recommend a 2 GB partition for NT 4. It's the larges NT 4 will
support, as NT 4 does not support FAT32.

Yes, until you fix that. See below.

I have not used grub, so I will guess that it will let you boot to
NT. Make sure you have a Linux boot disk so you can boot to your Linux
partition after you install NT. You will need to edit the grub
configuration, and do whatever you need to do there.

Alternatively, there is a way to sneak Linux into the NT boot
loader. I think there is a HOW-TOs on that.
