Don't know if you can use them but if you want to use this
rpm -Uvh  --nodeps --force
Watch out though it can screw things up rather well

Thanks to all who have replied. On my box, which has an AMD K6 2+ 450 cpu, 
the i686 rpms do not work. There are a lot of error messages/warnings and 
several of the packages core dump during the install. I backed out okay and 
reinstalled the 4.0.1 rpms from the CD. I will wait...(g) As they say, "I 
was lucky this time".
