What do you mean by "access it thru the normal methods"? Some more
detail would help.

FYI, the new sawfish/librep/rep-gtk should be available soon
(rebuilding as we speak) and I am currently running it on stock 7.1
install without helixGNOME and it works good.

I kind-a got tired of trying with it and took a look at Afterstep. I'm
glad it didn't work cause I'm really enjoying Afterstep. It's much nicer
than I remember from RedHat 5.2

Well, Helix sort-of bombed during the install.
Don't know if this is standard or not. And when I
logged in after the reboot I was in the
enlightenment desktop. So I told it to switch to
SawFish, and it said it did, but it didn't. Log out
and back in didn't fix it. So I switched to another
desktop (fvm or something), applied it, switched
back to sawfish, applied it, and then I could
configure it, etc. No real problems since with
SawFish. Problem now are that all the KDE tools are
inactive if I switch back to KDE's desktop. Not
good. I'm considering re-installing KDE from the
original disks. Wonder if that would disrupt the
Gnome?

I just wish I could sawfish to run! I wouldn't mind seeing what it looks
like, but when I try to access it thru the normal methods nothing
happens. Any suggestions?

John,
most text type applications in both winderz and linux will go to the end of a
line of text by pressing the "end" key and will go to the start of a line of
text by pressing the "home" key.
Pretty handy li'l trick...

Yes, it is, and yes, I've had problems as well. I can't get it to
install ANY themes. Besides which, I detest the default mouse
behavior (double-click to launch, instead of KDE's single-click) as
well as some of the keyboard stuff. For example in KDE I click CTRL+
right arrow to go to the end of the line in KMail. In Helixcode
nothing happens with that combo!

I personally am estatic that gnome dumped enlightenment. It seemed like it was
always competing with gnome (IE another screen panner, desktop background, ect
ect) From the first time I used "The Windowmanager Formerly Known as Sawmill" I
was in love. The themes are just as cool as enlightenment's, it's alot faster
and it doesn't invade non-windowmanager functionality (Such as those panners
ect).

Yea, one of the authors helped me..

Ignore the sawfish doc's.

untar/gz the wm file into /usr/share/sawfish/themes.

Will work fine.

This is totally different from what the sawfish(mill) doc's say..

This should be a FAQ.

sawfish is the default wm for helixgnome. I encountered no problems
using the Solaris-CDE Theme for GTK and the cde-Theme (from
sawmill.themes.org) for sawfish. I just tar-xzf-ed it to
~/.sawfisch/themes and as soon as that could use it.

Is sawfish the default wm for helixgnome? I don't even know! I've
tried to use the Solaris-CDE theme from the gtk theme package
unsuccessfully. Help!
