Re: [expert] smbmount error
This is related to Codepage translation so if the drive you mount holds files with names that doesn't have foreign language characters in them you should'nt have any problem.. You can test it by creating a file with a name like testæøå on the mounted drive. /bo On Wednesday 10 April 2002 02:18, J. Whenever I mounted a Samba share after installing 8.2 (with the 2.4.18 kernel), an ls of the share directory would hang, and then ls anywhere would hang. I was never able to kill the processes, and eventually I would have to reboot. This patch solved the problem! This is fixed in 2.4.18.7mdk, which is nothing more than the stock 8.2 kernel with the smbfs codepage fix. I still don't know why this isn't errata. OKAY, maybe I am on a toot but I have not experienced any difficulty with mounting win2000 shares. I am using kernel 2.4.18-6mdk. I am using samba 2.2.3a-10mdk. What gives? This patch was purely for smbfs between systems with different codepages, and you'd most likely not see it unless you were running Samba servers with different codepage settings or Windows boxen with different locales set. Some of us got the snot kicked out of us by this bug, and were very happy to see .7mdk arrive to save the day. -- Brad Felmey Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft?
