[FairfieldLife] Advanced Techniques

2014-02-03 Thread Pundit Sir
The late Brahmacharya Satyanand had been a disciple of Swami Brahmananda
Saraswati for many years. He later worked with MMYto help bring TM to the
world. In the late 60' and early 70's, Satyanand used to travel about
giving out advanced techniques for the MMY - I got the night technique
when on a residence course with Jerry Jarvis in 1968 at SIMS in Berkely.
Later, in 1971, when I was passing through India, I visited Satyanand at
his house in Rishikesh.

Apparently, Satyanand passed away sometime in the 90's. He was one of my
teachers - a real yogi and a siddha. I still practice the night technique I
learned from him - if anyone wants to enjoy a good night's rest, sleep like
a baby, arise feeling totally refreshed, without an alarm clock at a
precise hour, the night technique is second-to-none. This technique is
mentioned in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.

Mario:  Various contributors have laid out the options for you, and you need to
choose and stop complaining about the $$. That's the way it is.
But you're making a big mistake sticking ONLY with TM.  Get in sync with Ramana
Maharshi. In the meantime, just preface your mantra with Sri. That's the
advanced technique, as already stated by Willytex. Save your money.

[FairfieldLife] Advanced Techniques?

2007-10-03 Thread cardemaister

As I recall it (might well misremember...), my TM teacher
said that the purpose of advanced techniques is to *slow
down* transcending, so that one has more time to watch
the scenery, to become more familiar with different
levels of creation, or stuff.

MMY said they were like manure. :) What he meant is they were like
fertilizer to the process of developing enlightenment. Of course I
recall quite a laugh on that tape. However what they are really just
more like the traditional mantra for Saraswati minus Om of course.
These mantras, being longer, transcend slower. The deepen the
experience by keeping you there longer. The first technique bijas tend
to bob up and down in consciousness.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Advanced Techniques...

2006-05-16 Thread Rick Archer

I learned all the TM advanced techniques. Most of them involve adding
syllables to the mantra, the explanation being that these culture the heart,
slow down the process of transcending so that you can become more familiar
with the subtle relative, etc. The argument against getting them from a web
site is that being initiated properly imbues the mantra with shakti, or
power, which makes it more effective. I know people who got all the advanced
techniques and now just do their original TM mantra. I use a mantra I got
from Amma (Ammachi), which has about as many syllables as my TM mantra ended
up having. She's got plenty of shakti. I guess I'm not really answering your
question. I'm just giving you some explanations which might help you make
your own decision. I do think that aside from whatever subtle benefits the
additions to the mantra might have, the TMO sees advanced techniques as one
of its cash cows.

So here's my question; If someone has been properly instructed in the TM

any reason that someone should consider paying $3000 for an adv. technique, if
 he could
just as easily go to minet.org, and get his new technique for free (i.e simply
 update his
 mantr..)??

Unless, the technique requires special instruction (which I know for a fact is
 unecessary after
having been insrtucted in one advanced technique) I see no reason ...

 Any thoughts, anyone?

As Bob Thurman said in that soundclip from yesterday: 'there should be
no old disciples. The disciples should be independent, they should be
out there doing their own thing.'

Time to grow up. Out of the nest.

The good side? Maybe he knew westerners were never it. The real future
is in the pundits who are truly being trained in droves and to the
hilt. 200,000 gurus. The reason there is little talk is because they
don't need interference, but they are there at all the pithas and they
are being trained.

Worth considering. In the meantime, don't write, don't call: just send
money.

-Do you have reason to believe
