P.S.: That was in the primaries. Raunchy and I both
supported Hillary. As I recall, Raunchy wrote in
Hillary's name in the general; I cast a protest vote
for Cynthia McKinney (a Democrat) when it became
clear my state was going to be an easy Obama win.

Just so nobody thinks we supported or voted for
McCain.

BTW, "Skidmark Smurf" or similar counts as a mention.

Oblique but easily identifiable references to me such as this
also count as a mention.

Let's have a look, shall we? Barry wrote:

"In related news, a poll conducted at bellweather
Internet chat site Fairfield Life indicates that the
popularity rating on that site for posters Raunchydog
and Judy Stein (considered representative of Republican
tactics) has dropped in the last week from the next-to-
lowest Category Y ('Strident revenge harpies from Hell')
to the lowest possible Category Z ('Dumb angry cunts
too stupid to live.')

"Experts are studying the possibility that, since there
is no lower level to sink to in terms of favorability
ratings, if Raunchydog and Judy continue their anti-
Obama activism at this point, something more drastic
may happen to the two activists -- actually bursting
into flame."

Ha ha ha.

My mention of "death threats":

"Your hypocrisy is stunning, Curtis. You've seen the
misogynistic vomit (including death threats) hurled
at me and raunchydog and other women who attempt to
post here, not to mention at Hillary and Sarah Palin
and Cindy McCain and even Jackie Kennedy."

No mention of Barry's post. Curtis didn't know what I
was talking about.

But Barry did. If it was so batshit crazy, how come he
instantly recognized what I was referring to and went
on the warpath in an attempt to defend himself?

Obviously "death threats" was metaphorical in context,
just as "misogynistic vomit" was. So, one hopes, was
Barry's fantasy of Raunchy and me bursting into flame
and dying because we were "too stupid to live."

(And why were we "too stupid to live"? Because we didn't
support Obama and dared to say so.)

[FairfieldLife] Death Threats against Obama 400% higher than against GW Bush

2009-09-30 Thread do.rflex

~~Barack Obama faces 30 death threats a day, stretching US Secret Service~~

Since Mr Obama took office, the rate of threats against the president has
increased 400 per cent from the 3,000 a year or so under President George
W.Bush, according to Ronald Kessler, author of In the President's Secret
Service.

This has been widely reported.

Since Obama's approval rating is at least 20 points higher than Bush's was for
most of his second term, why do you think there's such a difference?

Why do you think the death threats are 400% higher for Obama?

The claim that actual death threats have been made on
Fairfield Life is a serious one, and one that I do not
take lightly. If the poster who made this claim cannot
back up this claim with actual quotes that fit the
definition on the following Wiki page -- "may inflict
physical injury on anyone" -- I demand a public retrac-
tion of the statement and an equally public apology.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_threat

I've been a member of Fairfield Life for some time now.
I have never seen a "death threat" made on this forum.
Not once.

I have seen people actively *wish* for another person's
demise, but that's not a death threat. A death threat
is where you say, "I or someone else will kill you."

I have actually seen such statements on other Internet
groups, one of them sadly another spiritual forum. When
a poster on that forum started making statements like,
"I know where you live, and I'm going to go there and
find you and beat you to death" (no shit...someone on
a spiritual forum really did say this), I'm as outraged
as anyone else. In that case, although he didn't say it
to me, I got in touch with the person who said it and
told him in no uncertain terms that if he continued I
would report him to the police.

So I don't take death threats lightly.

Nor do I take the claim that they have been made on
this forum lightly. I think that's a knowing lie.

I think that the person who made this claim needs to
either prove her claim with exact quotes or retract the
claim and apologize to us all.

[FairfieldLife] Death threats

During a trip to Scotland, New age guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
casually mentioned while speaking to Edinburgh-based Evening News
that he had received death threats from Islamic and went on to
gleefully say that it "doesn't concern me at all".

"Islamic militants have put me on a hit list," he told the paper's
bewildered reporter while beaming widely.

--
This may explain the death threats...

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living Center recently said:
"In the Indian context, we have respect for all religions.
Privilege for one religion above the other is not right. In our
country the majority religion does not get facilities. Those people
who go to the kumbh mela have to pay taxes whereas people are given
a grant to go to Haj. These are disparities. That's why there is a
sense of resentment in the majority community."
This is only the beginning. As Sri Sri Ravi Shankar pointed out in
the same interview: "The minority community institutions are fully
exempted from taxes whereas majority community institutions are not.
In Karnataka, we have 40,000 temples. The income from these temples
is Rs 40 crore. Only Rs 50 lakh is spent on the temples, the rest
goes to the government. Whereas grants are given to the minority
communities (to an extent of Rs 8 crore) while their income is only
Rs 50 lakh. These disparities should go. Everybody should be treated
equally."
This means, in effect, money is being taken from temples and
channeled to Muslim institutions like mosques and madrasas.
