It appears that Karzai has secretly made a deal with the Taliban to kick the Americans out of Afghanistan. By doing so, he gets to live in peace in his country or continue as president while the Taliban takes a de facto rule of certain regions of Afghanistan.
It's unfortunate that the American military brass is clueless about this possibility.
