A former Purusha friend informed me that he knew from first hand
experience that a monthly check was being sent to Jerry at least into
the early 90's by one of the movements arms. Tom

That’s nice. MMY did that with at least one of his former girlfriends too
(Jennifer). One could see that either as hush money or an expression of
appreciation. In Jerry’s case, I would see it as the latter, since Jerry is
too loyal to need hushing.

Looking at all the message on Jerry Jarvis I am reminded of the local
"Peace" organization (which I sometimes refer to as the "Inertia"
organization) which mainly consists of a bunch of old fogies wanting to
relive the 1960's (now that many are in their 60's). :-D

I met Jerry once, a couple weeks after I learned TM. He was on a TV
show I worked on. He seemed shocked to have someone come over to him
and greet him with a "Jai Guru Dev." He must have thought "another TM
nut." :-)

It's too bad he hasn't moved on like many of us and found the good stuff.

You know, it's funny, when someone commented that Jerry didn't want
to get any news from FFL as he already got his news from "the
Maharishi channel" I couldn't help but think, for such an
intelligent, gifted and charismatic man, "what a waste".

[FairfieldLife] Jerry Jarvis's disassociation from TM org- anything to do with Sidhis ?

Charlie freely hypothesized on many subjects, and we enjoyed Charlie's
discourses, but on the topic of Jerry Jarvis and the reasons for Jerry's
disassociation
from the TM org, I'm uncomfortable creating a default understanding in my
memory
bank out of the theory presented above - specifically, that Jerry wanted to
eliminate the
puja from TM instruction, and thus was summarily dismissed. That supposed
theory of
Charlie's sounds like an organizational face-saving disinformation campaign to
cast doubt
upon the judgement of a defector that conveniently lessened the impact of the
bombshell
news of his Jerry's departure, and perhaps inflamed the faithful (who
considered a
proposal for puja elimination to be a gross violation of the "purity of the
teaching"), and
thus inflamed, the faithful more easily digested and thus, and perhaps looked
with
righteous disfavor toward Jerry Jarvis.
Without a direct thorough documented explanation from Jerry Jarvis himself,
dated during
the era that the defection occured, what more can one say?
One might also ponder the effect of the outlandish 'Fly like Superman' PR
campaign
of the Sidhi program in '77 and '78 had on Jerry's decision. Wasn't Charlie a
big front-man
for 'fly like Superman' ? Wasn't Jerry reluctant to promote the Sidhis?

Mainstream..what in the world are you talking about?
All this nonsesnse about Charlie claiming Jerry wanted
to remove the puja, etc. etc. Charlie and Jerry always
had underlying conflicts because Charlie was a big
lovable spiritual BS'er and Jerry was a little more
discriminating in the intellect department. Is this
conjecture on your part or what? Did you have your
finger on the pulse of the TMO during this time
because I certainly did and nothing..absolutely
nothing of what you are talking about was ever
remotely spoken about by anybody. Rick, did you ever
hear of such a thing?

Not until it was mentioned here. I wasn’t in close touch with Jerry during
his final years in the movement, but I recall hearing that MMY pulled him
from the field after the NJ court case (boo lives says MMY was pissed
because Jerry paid the lawyers’ fees against his wishes). Then I recall that
MMY had Jerry round for a year or two, and the sidhis came out during that
period. I remember hearing that Jerry disapproved of the sidhis or the way
they were being presented. Thought the whole flying thing was nonsense, or
perhaps that it violated the “capture the fort” principle. But all of this
is a recollection of rumors I heard 30 years ago, so I don’t know how
closely any of it corresponds with what actually happened.
