If you recall Jobs stopped Apple from licensing the Mac OS to third 
parties.  I would love now that he is gone for the execs to put the Mac 
OS back on the market as an alternate to Windows.  It would really be a 
corporate war worth seeing as millions would drop Windows for it.  I 
believe it would make Apple even richer.

Some might argue that it would be a support nightmare but keep in mind 
that the OS based on Open BSD has a superior security model than 
Windows.  Hardware compatibility is always a bitch but like Linux the 
Mac OS could give new life to older computers which get bogged down with 
Microsoft's lousy approach (sort of a scaled down mainframe) to an OS.

Linux is great but the media boys are terrified of it so most people 
still need either a Windows machine or a Mac for movies.  Plus there is 
still too much geek expertise involved to do some things.  The other 
party soon arriving will be Google as their desktop OS becomes more 
available (already on come netbooks).
