One problem, they clearly profited from the money they donated since it was going to support property adjacent to what they owned, so they shouldn't have been able to take a tax deduction in the first place. Complaining in a court of law would have opened a can of worms they wanted to stay shut, so instead they merely bitched about it in public but didn't actually DO anything to get their money back. L
