Well, the Kaplans were incensed because their donations were spent differently 
than they intended, but since this is blatantly illegal they could have easily 
challenged it in court and gotten their money back...

One problem, they clearly profited from the money they donated since it was 
going to support property adjacent to what they owned, so they shouldn't have 
been able to take a tax deduction in the first place. Complaining in a court of 
law would have opened a can of worms they wanted to stay shut, so instead they 
merely bitched about it in public but didn't actually DO anything to get their 
money back.

MMY didn't get Nature's support there, I wonder why? If I remember correctly 
one of the Kaplan's felt he wasn't getting the whole truth from MMY and was 
forced to look else where to find answers, too bad, look at what hung in the 
balance
