I think honest and educated candidates are decreasing simply because that masses are losing their discriminative ability to choose a good candidate. That's why independants aren't that popular. Americans need labels, charisma, and key phrases uttered to grasp their attention these days. Well, in many cases I agree with you. I make it a point never to donate $$ to politicians. Period. I absolutely loathe the advertising/campaign process here in the US. But, I do have respect for the politician that truly understands what "public service" means and who tirelessly works through our democratic process in the spirit of cooperation. It's a tough game. I couldn't do it. I think that because of how rough it is and how influenced by $$ it is, the pool of honest and educated and experienced candidates able to get elected is decreasing in size. Well, I actually agree with you. Clinton does have a habit of wanting center stage and/or upstaging the one he's there to "support." Part of his personality, no doubt. Overall, given that the key slogan/message was "we're in this together," one has to take the whole package with Clinton and he did revive the convictions of many (noted when the camera panned to show resolve etched in the new set of the jaw and tightening of the lips of attending delegates).
