Well it certainly impressed M that the president of Indian Congress or whatever it was referred to Guru Dev as Vedante Incarnate. Being given a title is certainly more distinguishing than taking a title. And who bestows the title also makes it more valid. Obviously, the body that elected Gurudev Shankaracharya had the authority to do so and they also had the authority to reject Gurudev's replacement based upon the circumstances. What makes them qualified? Their knowledge and position in society. A very popular TV-comedy "Absolute Fabulous" was shown in Norway last night, where they had some crazy things about the Beatles and Maharahis sexlife. I do not want to go into details.
