I suppose I could have lept up and said I do TM and I'm a yogic
flyer!

If you don't want to appear for jury duty, just take a red crayon to
the notice they mail you and write Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord!
or some other Bible-y or quasi-bibley slogan and send it back to em --
they'll leave you alone.

This episode gets weirder. Returned at 1:30 and sat in the assembly
room for 45 minutes whereupon a judge enters and explains that there
were four cases on the docket. Three were criminal and resolved without
trials and the remaining is a civil case but has to review some motions
and there may not even be a trial for that either so we have to call
back tomorrow evening. For me a civil case would be more interesting.

The justice system treats people shabbily. When OJ was on trial,
jurors were basically jailed for months (sequestered, supposedly to
protect OJ's right to a fair trial), which horseshit I would never
put up with -- of course, somehow the judge and prosecutors didn't
see any need to lock themselves up for the trial.

Probably a reasonable solution (especially given the outcome with the
drooler jury seated for OJ and the inevitable result) is to have well-
paid professional jurors, educated people who display a rationality
not found in the lumpen proletariet (would you like to have 12 Sarah
Palins on your jury?).

If I was guilty, sure.

So you too could have the surprised look that OJ had when the jury
verdict was announced...

The Question is: how long should one wait before starting merrily
buying underpriced stocks? :)
