SOme call it the Jack Bauer Power Hour. I call it Jack Bauer's Torture 101.
That article also tells you why there are so many politically liberal
people in Hollywood: creative people have to have open minds and hence
will tend to be liberal (or at worst apolitical). That is why the show
is a hoot to watch because it is so dumb. And of course many of us like
to watch a good thriller.
Then we have Battle Star Gallactica which is one of the most brilliantly
written shows on television which got all the righties thinking BSG was
in their camp until this last season where it was clear the Cyclons were
a metaphor for the US occupying Iraq and even had the BS crew doing
suicide bombing missions. This last episode delved a little deeper in
to the astrological context of the tribes being based on astrological
sign with the Sagitarons being a tribe with the qualities of
Sagittarians. :)
