We had our own hotel about 5 miles north of the old town and got buses in when we fancied a bit of culture. Nice cliffs and country walks nearby and plenty of interesting communist architecture to give it a very foreign atmosphere. I always intended to return to the place to rekindle some nostalgic memories but haven't got round to it yet. Are you a follower of "Game Of Thrones," Sal? This is what they turn Dubrovnik into as Kings Landing: I haven't got round to Game of Thrones yet either but have had it recommended. I'm going to have to schedule an entire future re-incarnation to watch/read all the stuff I promise myself I will try out. I see they've made a few changes to the Dubrovnik skyline though, unless my memory is really bad now... All you had to do was skip the "knowledge" meetings and you had a few extra hours twice a day for swimming, hiking in the hills near the course hotel or getting a bus into the old town - pictured here - and having an evening meal or tea at an ice cream parlour. Ah well, funny you should say that. They started off with strict rules but everyone said no way and spent most of the time having water pistol fights in the meetings and eating ice cream on the beach. The course leaders turned a blind eye and as long as people did the rounds - we were supposed to be preventing WW3 or something - it was OK. Some people were very serious about the official routine because it was Marshy inspired but I had one foot out the door by that time and would do anything rather than watch the channel for even half a minute. Then one day some people from Vlodrop paid a visit and were shocked to see course participants wearing shorts (it was hot) and that men and women did asanas in the same room!(so what?) and complained to the course leaders that things have got to change because Marshy wouldn't be pleased and so they did and it got more like an official TM course. But not so much that I started going to meetings. It was majorly good fun and a year well spent. Would do it again in a heartbeat but they don't run things like this anymore.
