Hi people what is with a *Mascot project*? Is it closed without results

It seems like it quietly died due to lack of interest, both from the
contributors and the general public.

But it is not really dead, is like Sleeping Beauty, in a dormant state,
it may get back to life someday if we get to the conclusion that we need
or want a mascot (or have something so good looking that we can't stop
using it). But, you know, Sleeping Beauty is a fairy tale...

Anuja's wallpapers got me playing around with the gimp fractal explorer.
Here's another idea for the waves proposal:

Hi,

that's great! I'd use darker colours and maybe tweak the settings a
little more, to have it smoother, but this is quite good for Round 2.
What's the gimp script for this one?

Btw. I had some idea for the connection of the Waves proposal with the
F9 codename (sulphur). I think it could work especially for the
horizontal/vertical parts of the artwork. Having a sulphur stone dropped
to water which creates the actual wave and we would still seen it
sinking as the wallpaper changes (that would be probably done in
inkscape and then joined with the rest in gimp). OR having a handful of
sulphur lying in e.g. one in one of the corners/sides of the banners
which creates small waves around (similar to waves that creates around a
barrier).

From colour perspective it would IMHO work great, as yellow and blue
(though rather darker tones of blue) work quite nice together.

Indeed, I think is worth trying.
I like very much a concept like this:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Sulfur.jpg but I'm not sure
if/how it can be integrated with the designs from Round 1.

But yeah, maybe a sulfur stone in the water and waves around it...

AS colors, there is something crazy which is harder to draw and will not
with with anything: yellow sulfur (brimstone) burning with a blue flame
(sulfur burn with a blue flame) and flowing red molten sulfur.

As always, you are our Blender guru Mola!

But as we said over and over, please do not use the word fedora in the
wallpaper graphic, we struggled to ease the branding in F8, I don't
think we will revert it.

Really cool promo flyers

I found some really cool promo flayers online and would like to share
them with you;

Does fedora have something similar ?

Here's the problem with wondering aloud about gnome development on a

You need to take responsibility for the questions you ask and where
you ask them.

In the future, questions regarding suitability of patches need to be
asked in the context of the upstream project. Not in a mailing list
for artists. And please refrain from feeding the trolls. It's very
easy to get stuck in a conversation with someone who has no real
constructive information which aids your purpose, if you are talking
about something in the wrong list. Its one thing to point something
out because it looks cool and you want other people to know about. Its
quite another to have a back and forth discussion about technical
suitability that are out of scope. Any information obtained in such a
draw out discussion is suspect, wasting your time and enthusiasm.

Round 2 reminder

2008-01-31 Thread Nicu Buculei

The current deadline for Round 2 is less than one week away, February 5th.

Recently we had some theming activity, but most proposals from Round 1
are still unmodified and not enough polished for Round 2 and none has
all the required graphics (wallpaper and 3 supporting artworks:
vertical, horizontal, square).
So there are a few days remaining to work on themes you care about to
make them apt for Round 2.
