Also, the design doesn't protect the minimum space around the
   logo.

You made me think more and I bet the font used is *not* MgOpen
Modata, which is our complementary font:
  https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo/UsageGuidelines#Complementary_Font

Part of the power of a slogan comes from using it consistently.
If everyone makes their own, how do we tell the difference
between the unofficial ones and the official one? Frankly, I'd
rather see T-shirts not reflect any slogan, just the branding
   (logo) and website.

But a T-shirt with only the logo is boring, how often would you
  wear one?

True enough -- maybe Pierre-Yves can translate the 4 Foundations into
 French for the shirt?

Well i don't really agree on translating will be enough.
When there are very few words and strong ideas behind, you can't always
translate them as easily we would love to. Translating means adapting
as well, and sometimes we have to get rid of all the initial words to
keep the meaning, and it looks like new slogan at the end. For example,
each release has a pun on the website. For Fedora 9 it is Make waves
which can't be translated into french as such, as it has a negative
meaning and nothing to do with waves, word linked to the theme of
Fedora 9. So we had to adapt it, use a new slogan keeping this idea of
waves and spreading to people : The New Wave (La nouvelle vague -- in
French).

I remain quite sceptical though...

Thomas

I'm against a blue theme - we've had blue themes for many many
releases and I'm ready for something different. That's part of why I
voted for sulphur - I hoped that it would inspire you all to come up
with something different. That's why I was so pleased to see Máirín's
 grey/yellow sulphur mockups.

Help handling inkscape with fedora 9 banner

2008-02-06 Thread Thomas Canniot
Hello

I'm trying to translate the amazing little fedora 9 banner [1] into
french, but my poor knowledge of inkscape does not let me export the
file correctly.

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Artwork/PromoBanners?action=AttachFiledo=gettarget=fedora9alpha-banner2_mo.png

I got the blue waves around and the outline of the 9 figure whereas
there are not present in the one Mairin introduced on her blog.

Should I simply remove them ? I f i do so, the blur aroung the sulphur
is no more present.

Thanks for your help

I found the tool on RedHat Magazine

Moreover, I noticed that the reflect of the right hand side sulphur
element are not present in inkscape as well whereas is it on the png.
The svg with inkscape does not have it, but when i open it with firefox
  it does appear.

Strange again, I can see it here both with Inkscape and Firefox.

Here is a sketch about creating such a reflect using masks:

I ran inkscape under widows as well, and I don't see it either :(

I will try to re-create it with your sketch, thanks.

 My 2 cents.. :)

Here are my stuffs :

I wanted to make tries with four objects : a pair of cissors, a key, a
plunger and a glass of beer.

here are the raw photos :

and what I think I will submit very soon :

know how to say this (I really DONT want to be offensive or criticise

many different themes. He has a great talent, I don't have such and I am
really anvious not to be able to do the same. But his work does not look
as professional as what professional designers / artists, like Mairin

Some desktops users notice Fedora does not have its own sound effect
theme because it use the generic theme from Gnome. I wonder if there is
a sound artist willing to develop a sound theme for Fedora.

I also wonder if there is a possibility to support .ogg and .flac for
the sound effects as the current version only use .wav.

I read on somewhere mailing list about FC6 that it was something people
do not want, as it can't please everybody.

I find this argument rather strange as even a wallpaper can't make every
people happy and we are shipping a distro with a customed wallpaper as
well.

I think however that it is a good idea to improve fedora's own
personality.

One of lesson is to plan early which explains why Echo icon theme

Another details is to reorganize the artwork page by grouping into
different versions of Core i.e. 5, 6 or 7. Since we are about seven
