The MODE was set up by system-config-network, it is from its list of possible options for Mode and I think was the default. If I run ifup the error you mention is not reported and the interface comes up fine. However, I do get the error: domainname: you must be root to change the domain name Which I assume is due to another F12 bug. Could this cause NM to abort the connection ? I note that domainname is called from /etc/dhcp/dhclient.d/nis.sh. At point of invocation $UID and $EUID are 0 I added a sh into /etc/dhcp/dhclient.d/nis.sh to have a look. Here getuid() and geteuid() return 0. whoami returns root. But when I run domainname kingnet I get the error: domainname: you must be root to change the domain name Also su states su: incorrect password without even prompting for one. FYI: Accouncing retirement of BMPx
I just had a private correspondence with Milosz Derezynski, the main dev of BMPx where he confirmed the project was abandoned for the sake of a new project, Youki, that will partly take over BMPx' code base (feature-wise). As I cannot expect any support from upstream anymore and I am neither willing nor capable (due to lack of time) to maintain the project myself, I'm going start the retirement process now, close all open and new tickets for BMPx and advise against (re-)adopting the package. - Alex -- fedora-devel-list mailing list fedora-devel-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-devel-list

Re: Proposed F13 feature: drop separate updates repository
I think that idea maybe isn't benefit with repository. If updates repository is merged into Everything repository, Will metadata files become too large? I know that the size of metadatas on updates and everything are more than 30 megabytes. If these two repositories compose, We will need download more than 30MB files before updating. I believe that it will decrease the advantage of delrarpm update. It will increase more time to download the files. Is there any way to make createrepo generate delta metadata files? Just like delta rpm, we just need to get what meta files are changed, then yum generates the entire metadata files. We exactly not need and want to download the big files. Additionally, if an user is far away from repository server, though ISP provides quite a good 10Mbps connection, it is still quite slow to install some big applications, such OpenOffice.org, Eclipse, Netbeans, KOffice and some 3D games. Does yum allow to download more than one rpm files with only one thread per files after checking dependencies? Or using a yum plugin to replace yum default downloader by axel to download one rpm files with multi threads. I ever found out this kind of plugin, but I can assure it can run in Fedora 12. -- My Page: http://www.liangsuilong.info Fedora Project Contributor -- Packager Ambassador https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Liangsuilong -- fedora-devel-list mailing list fedora-devel-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-devel-list

perl-5.10.1 update, modules rebuild
Hello, a big update of Perl in Fedora has just been kicked off. Small step for perl (5.10.0 - 5.10.1) but big jump for Fedora: there will be significant changes in the packaging tied to this upgrade. Nonetheless, things are expected to just work; if not, contact me or file a bug. If you are interested, you can find more details below; otherwise, let me wish to enjoy perl-5.10.1. Two imporant changes are happening in Fedora at this opportunity: First, the @INC path will become much simpler. This change was first presented here http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.perl/9664 Second, production is going to be built. (Fedora 9--12 contains perl built with debugging support, which makes it slower. This was not intentional, perl's Configure script was being too smart.) Each of the changes breaks backward compatibility: Perl modules and applications built against libperl.so will no longer work after the change is fully implemented. To reflect this situation rpm-wise, the changes are tied to the version change: newly built packages will require perl(:MODULE_COMPAT_5.10.1), while the old ones require perl(:MODULE_COMPAT_5.10.0). To arrange for smooth transition, the first build(s) of perl 5.10.1 will contain backward compatibility aids so that it will still work in combination with old modules and libperl-linked packages. Consequently, this build will provide both perl(:MODULE_COMPAT_5.10.1) and perl(:MODULE_COMPAT_5.10.0). With this package in place, it will be possible to rebuild the dependent packages. When this rebuild will have been done, perl can be upgraded to a clean version, without the compatibility aids; that build will no longer provide perl(:MODULE_COMPAT_5.10.0). At this moment, we are at the begining of the rebuild, perl-5.10.1-101.fc13 is the build with compatibility aids. Election Town Halls
Today we completed the 6 town halls for the Fedora Project Board, FESCo, and FAmSCo elections. If you weren't able to attend these you can access logs from each meeting from the main election page on the wiki. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Elections I'd like to thank all the candidates who chose to participate in one or more of the town halls. Without their cooperation our moderators would have been very lonely. I'd like to also thank Yaakov Nemoy, Toshio Kuratomi, Kevin Fenzi, Lars Delhage, Karsten Wade, and Paul Mellors for volunteering to do the sometimes exciting and sometimes not so exciting work as moderators of these events. Remember to vote! The schedule for voting has been slightly revised as described on the wiki but will begin on December 5 and run through at least December 15. Vote early though to help us minimize any impact our other activities might have. Mozilla decided to merge all include directories to one (mozbz#398573) and stop shipping stable/unstable packages. So all headers/libraries are merged to one big xulrunner-devel package (with respective pkgconfig files) and xulrunner-devel-unstable has been removed. Is this the same with the -python and -python-devel pacakges? I'm not sure what's going on with python interface but it looks removed from 3.6. I'm still investigating it... Having a quick google around the mozilla.org site I found the following mercurial repo [1] so it looks like its been split out to a separate project but I'm not 100% sure. Its used by hulahop/sugar-browse so it would be useful to add back in some form or another but I has issues building it but then I know very little about the mozilla build system. perl-5.10.1 update, modules rebuild
There is more than one way to break rawhide, Stepan Kasal -- Fedora Extras Perl SIG http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Extras/SIGs/Perl Fedora-perl-devel-list mailing list Fedora-perl-devel-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-perl-devel-list
