They have been consolidating the Fedora Infrastructure bits under one unified user interface, and have decided to split the efforts into two projects. Moksha is a platform for creating real-time collaborative web applications. It provides a set of Python and JavaScript API's that make it simple to create rich applications that can acquire, manipulate, and visualize data from external services. Fedora Community aims at being a portal interface for Fedora Project members to collaborate within and find information about the diverse Fedora universe. It is created from applications built on top of the Moksha platform. Fedora Community is assembled from a wide-ranging set of modules that integrates existing Fedora Infrastructure components such as koji, bodhi, FAS, and PkgDB. [1] http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-announce/2009-January/msg7.html === Fedora 11 === The Fedora 11 Alpha freeze has passed[1], and we still have a few feature pages in need of an update. Several have not been updated for a month or more, according to John Poelstra. If these pages are not updated by January 28th, FESCo will be asked to drop the features from Fedora 11. Re: Alpha Release Readiness
So far I have not heard from anyone from the Art team. I need a representative to add to the call-in email ASAP. John John Poelstra wrote: With the Alpha Release for Fedora 11 scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2009, this means it is time to meet again with representatives from each of the teams to have our release readiness meeting. We usually have this meeting at 18:00 UTC (13:00 EST) the Wednesday before, which means next Wednesday, January 28, 2009, is the day. On Monday, January 26, 2009, I will be sending out the dial-in information and a meeting reminder to all the attendees. In the meantime I need to know who will be representing your group at these meetings for the Fedora 11 meetings. Usually this is the designated team leader, but I wanted to ask to make sure you coordinate within your team to make sure someone comes. K. bugzillas+padremovethi...@gmail.com 2009-01-26 17:18:02 EDT --- Created an attachment (id=330034) -- (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=330034) untested patch for Lohit-Telugu.sfd I hand edited http://fedorahosted.org/lohit/browser/trunk/Lohit-Telugu.sfd for my suggested changes and a few more changes and created the attached patch. The changes made are: 1. Every GlyphClass: line is fixed to reflect if the glyph is a mark (4) or a ligature (3). [For the specific issue at hand, changing GlyphClass: for all below base forms (*.blwf glyphs got by substituting those, glyph471, U0C24_U0C4D.blwf_U0C30_U0C4D.blwf.blws glyph473) is enough.] 2. Lookup flags of Above Base Substitutions in Telugu lookup 1 and Halant Forms in Telugu lookup 317 is changed from 0 to 8 to ignore marks. [For the specific issue at hand, the second change is enough.] 3. What seem to be typos in Ligature2: lines are fixed -- U0C38_U0C4D.haln U0C1F U0C30_U0C4D.blwf - U0C38_U0C4D.haln U0C24 U0C30_U0C4D.blwf and U0C37_U0C4D.haln U0C24 U0C30_U0C4D.blwf - U0C37_U0C4D.haln U0C1F U0C30_U0C4D.blwf. [These are of course unrelated to this bug. The modifications are to Ligature2: lines for the glyphs U0C38_U0C24_U0C4D.blwf_U0C30_U0C4D.blwf.blws and U0C37_U0C1F_U0C4D.blwf_U0C30_U0C4D.blwf.blws.] 4. What seem to be erroneous akhn rules for consonant sequences without halanths -- U0C38 U0C24 U0C30 U0C40 - U0C38_U0C4D.haln U0C24_U0C40.abvs U0C30_U0C4D.blwf and U0C37 U0C1F U0C30 U0C40 - U0C37_U0C4D.haln U0C1F_U0C40.abvs U0C30_U0C4D.blwf. [These are also unrelated to this bug. The modifications are to Ligature2: lines for the glyphs U0C38_U0C24_U0C30_U0C40.akhn and U0C37_U0C1F_U0C30_U0C40.akhn. The new sequences I have put are inspired by the akhn rules fixed in step 3 above.] The extra changes in 1 and 2 allow better rendering for rendering engines that do not position the base consonant and the matra immediately next to each other. E.g. before the change in http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/pango?limit_changes=100view=revisionrevision=2107 Pothana2000 rendered consonant + ai-matra (0x0C48) correctly as it ignored the intervening ai length mark (0x0C56) when combining the consonant with the e-matra (0x0C46). These changes will allow Lohit Telugu to also handle this case with renderers other than pango. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Fedora-fonts-bugs-list mailing list Fedora-fonts-bugs-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-fonts-bugs-list

K. bugzillas+padremovethi...@gmail.com 2009-01-26 17:29:41 EDT --- Using ZWJ as in bug 451203 for the combination U+0c2f U+0c4d U+0c30 U+0c4d, pango uses the character sequence U+0c2f U+0c4d U+0c30 U+0c4d U+200d as is instead of the reordered sequence U+0c2f U+0c30 U+0c4d U+0c4d. With the former sequence the glyphs added are U+0c2f+halanth below-base-U+0c30 U+200d whereas with the latter we get U+0c2f below-base-U+0c30 U+0c4d followed by substitution of below-base-U+0c30 with a wider glyph due to the context of U+0c2f. Now the rendering of U+0c2f wide-below-base-U+0c30 U+0c4d can be fixed as suggested in bug 476427 to get U+0c2f+halanth wide-below-base-U+0c30 which isn't possible with ZWJ. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Fedora-fonts-bugs-list mailing list Fedora-fonts-bugs-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-fonts-bugs-list

The focus is on clear, easy-to-perceive letterforms that will not be readily confused with one another. A sans serif font is preferred by some literacy personnel for teaching people to read. Its forms are simpler and less cluttered than those of most serif fonts. For years, literacy workers have had to make do with fonts that were not really suitable for beginning readers and writers. In some cases, literacy specialists have had to tediously assemble letters from a variety of fonts in order to get all of the characters they need for their particular language project, resulting in confusing and unattractive publications. Re: Fedora-fonts-list Digest, Vol 16, Issue 14
Our wishlist stood at 56 entries for last report. It has now reached the 76 entries watermark. The current fonts packagers are clearly unable to cope with Fedora demands, fresh blood is needed before it moves into 3-digits land. Well then in that case, you may be happy to hear that you have a new fonts packager: me. ^.^ My name is Stephen, and I'm a student in the LUX program at Seneca College in Toronto Canada, studying Linux. For a class project, I will be packaging up as many fonts as I can, and (hopefully) getting them into Fedora. I'm a little late in getting into contact with the community, but hey, better late than never! To start off, I've already got one font packaged up and ready for review (Epigrafica - I had a couple others, but I see they're no longer on the wishlist), but I'm not quite sure where to go from here. I'd like to get these started into the review process, but I've never done that before so... yeah, what do I do next? I'm mostly clear on the technical details of making the packages, but I'm unfamiliar with the whole process for getting the package approved and whatnot. If someone could point me in the next direction, that would be great! Also, I'm on IRC a lot, is there an IRC channel where I could ask questions specifically related to fonts-packaging? You can reach me at scarter4 AT learn DOT senecac DOT on DOT ca or, reply to this address. Automating hosted projects?
Hi Infrastructure team, Not sure if this inquiry belongs here or on websites, but I'll start here. Personally my experience has been that the Fedora admins act on requests for Fedora Hosted projects requests very quickly. Some potential contributors may want or need more instantaneous results, and I would hate to see folks going to somewhere like Google Code if we can keep their projects more open and transparent (and portable) to the community. Does the team have any sense as to whether we could further automate the Fedora Hosted project creation process? -- Paul W. gnome_sound_play() doesn't work
hi Great list, It seems that the function gnome_sound_play() of libgnome dosen't work in Fedora 10. It seems that in libgnome/gnome-sound.c, there is a macro named HAVE_ESD, and if it is defined, the function will work, if it doesn't be defined, it will just return. Re: Printers
That sounds like fun. A bit difficult if you don't have the vinyl cutting machine, but you run into the same problems with an ink jet. I've not found any inkjet printable vinyl although I'm sure it exists somewhere. Now if only they made printable CD/DVDs that would work in a laser printer. :) Oh but they do sort of - print to vinyl, cut circles on vinyl cutter ... -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

If you only need small runs, many signwriters offer custom vinyl decal services. A friend's mother worked at one about 16 years ago in a small town in Wales so they should be fairly widespread now :) Depending on what you need the decals applied to they may also do that step for you - it all depends on whether it will fit into their equipment. This means you needn't worry about aligning them or applying them smoothly which is the really tricky part if you don't have the tools and experience. The pattern seems to be that when I first turn the machine on, it gets the hpnumber hotsname but if I reboot, I get the dhcp name. I would like to always get the dhcp name. Any suggestions how on to investigate this? The only way I could see the hostname being set by the BIOS is if it did the connection to the DHCP server. (Network boot?) It is possible to set up the DHCP request to request a specific hostname, or the DHCP server to assign a specific hostname. You can try setting DHCP_HOSTNAME in the config file for the interface and see if that helps. You can also set the hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network. I *could* set dhcp to request a specific filename - I do this on my home machine by creating a /etc/dhclient.conf file containing send host-name my host name; - but that wouldn't satisfy my curiosity and besides, the host name really should be set by the dhcp server. I'll try adding DHCP_HOSTNAME to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0. Currently it contains BOOTPROTO=dhcp plus a few other things. /etc/sysconfig/network contains NETWORKING=yes HOSTNAME=localhost.localdomain so the system seems to be ignoring that hostname altogether. Some have already been suggested: * preupgrade * netinstall * HD install also: usb thumbdrive install. Used this for installing on an Acer Aspire One which doesn't have any CD or DVD. The advantage of the latter is you now have a thumbdrive you can take to the local electronic retailer and install a real OS on all the demo machines. ;-) -wolfgang -- Wolfgang S. Cool! Adding DHCP_HOSTNAME=yes to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 seems to have done the trick. Now there is a longer pause during booting when it gets to the Setting up eth0...[OK] line so I'm guessing it is waiting a little longer to get an answer from the dhcp server. Btw, where are the docs for the ifcfg-eth0 file syntax? There is no man page for it. PLEASE, I need help with printing to HP1320 Laserjet
Even after I upgraded to F10, I'm still having problems and I have no idea how to proceed. Most times when I print, I only get the top few inches of the sheet. Afterwards, the job is still sitting in the queue and the hp process is running off with half the cpu. In my /var/log/cups/error_log, I don't see anything that looks horrible, but I could be wrong. Can anyone suggest something I can do to get further in this problem? TIA -- Time flies like the wind.
