Re: sendmail ! where to put my password

2008-10-06 Thread Adel ESSAFI
Hi,
I still have a problem with authentication but this time, the error code is
535 instead of 540.

I have followed the instruction below and just changer 587 to 25 (no ssl
connection) and put this on authinfo file

AuthInfo: "U:adel.essafi" "I:adel" "P:" "M:LOGIN PLAIN"

Could you help please.

I have used this configuration below.

include(`/usr/share/sendmail-cf/m4/cf.m4')dnl
VERSIONID(`setup for linux')dnl
OSTYPE(`linux')dnl
define(`SMART_HOST',`smtp.gnet.tn')
GENERICS_DOMAIN(localhost.localdomain localhost)dnl
FEATURE(`genericstable')dnl
MASQUERADE_AS(`gnet.tn')dnl
FEATURE(masquerade_envelope)dnl
define(`RELAY_MAILER_ARGS', `TCP $h 25')dnl
define(`ESMTP_MAILER_ARGS', `TCP $h 25')
FEATURE(`authinfo',`hash /etc/mail/authinfo')dnl

in /etc/mail/authinfo I have put this line
AuthInfo:smtp.gnet.tn:25 "U:adel.essafi" "P:mypassword" "M:LOGIN PLAIN"

However, when I send an email, I receiv an error message: authentification
failed. Could you help please.

kdesvn and authentification

2008-11-12 Thread Adel ESSAFI

in command line, the commands are used with authentification. When I try to
use kdesvn, I don t find any where to put the login/password.

Have you an idea about this. how can I make authentification with kdesvn?

thanks in advance

Well,
I listen to the radio in firefox, no problem with the plugin.
I want in fact to open that radio in realplayer application, and not in a
firefox window.

May be could you send me the link of BBC 2 if you have one?

Thanks

Hi
I was very happy today morning when I found KDE 4.2 updated!!

Once, someone tells me that with KDE 4.2, icons can be directly be put on
the desktop and we have not to use a folder plugin to show desktop icons.

unfortunally, I don't find that feature

Can someone help

The other "strange" problem I find, is that the "fedora" menu does no
longer appear after some time.

Really strange.

Thanks,

How ever, I am searching for more low level procedure. I mean, is there any
event or interruption that the system produces then the user come leaves or
take back his machine.

fedora LTS , why not?

2009-03-19 Thread Adel ESSAFI
Hi list

I was using fedora and redhat since 2000. To day, I can see that our
favorite distro is really very strong. However, I have done some experience
(short) with Ubuntu and I have liked to LTS concept (Long Term support).

My idea is to build a distribution that is based on Fedora at 100% with
1. LTS
2. with a very reduce number of packages
3. with proprietary codecs and essentiel software (mp3, flash ) included in.

I know that the variety of the open source projects are making it's power.
However, I aim to build a distribution with only one software from each
catégory. That is, I have to choose between:
* KDE and GNOME for the destop
* rhythembox , kaffeine, ... as media player
* abiword or openoffice as office writer
.

Technically, I will maintain a repository with a reduced number of
packages.

If I get positive feed back from this list, I can start working on this
project in july

This distribution will be very useful for starter!!

Best regards
Adel

Well, In fact I am assistant teacher in a high school and I have been
in contact with a variety of people with different level. All of them
find some problems with the variety existing in linux (many desktops,
many software with unsuel names xmms for example) . I aim to make
something that is really simple and that make the migration to fedora
easier than ever.

I don't know how hard is this task but I will try to make it hoping
that it will find some success

Well,
I see that many of you point me to centOs. The idea is interresting.
However, why centOs is not as known as ubuntu. The main advantage in ubunti
(in my point of view) is LTS and codecs! Why centOS is not a commercial
success?

For this example: I mean that some ubuntu multimedia software ask you
installing codecs when needed!! And they install the appropriate one. This
unfortunatly does not exist in Fedora

Re: fedora LTS , why not?

2009-03-22 Thread Adel ESSAFI
Well,
I think that I have chosen a bad subject for this discussion. I wanted to
focus about the multimedia aspect and that there are a big variety software
in Fedora. That may make the newbies a bit disturbed at the beginning.
Any way, I will concentrate to contribute (me and some of my student) to
contribute in fedora. What do you think about making media player detect the
missing codecs and ask to download them automatically (install rpmfusion and
download the needed packages). I have never contributed before. How long
time do you think that such implemented function need to be implemented.

Adel

linux as router

2009-12-13 Thread Adel ESSAFI
Hi list
This is the first time I have to configure linux as router.
I have a single network card for which I gave to IPs

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:11:5B:72:7F:D9
  inet addr:41.231.X.Y Bcast:41.255.255.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
  inet6 addr: fe80::211:5bff:fe72:7fd9/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
  RX packets:2595 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
  TX packets:2295 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
  collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
  RX bytes:1876353 (1.7 MiB) TX bytes:328059 (320.3 KiB)
  Interrupt:21 Base address:0x8000

eth0:1Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:11:5B:72:7F:D9
  inet addr:192.168.10.10 Bcast:192.168.10.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
  Interrupt:21 Base address:0x8000

and this is the default route

[r...@routeur ~]# route
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse
Iface
41.231.2.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 00 eth0
192.168.10.0* 255.255.255.0 U 0 00 eth0
link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 1002 00 eth0
default 41.231.2.81 0.0.0.0 UG0 00 eth0

The problem now, is when I configure a PC with an IP adress 192.168.10.X
and I put the gateway as 192.168.10.10, I do not succeed to ping any PC. How
can I route all the packages from eth0:1 to eth0??

note that I have configured the ip forward.

echo 1> /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

Can you help me please.

regards

Well, I have no great experience with routing but I am in an internet café
where I have a limited number of addresses.

so my logical configuration is as follows

ISP  -- ROUTER   41.231.2.81 <--LAN--> 41.231.2.83 My SERVER 192.168.10.10
<--- LAN --> CLients 102.168.10.X

I hope with that figure things are more precise

Thanks for help

2009-12-16 Thread Adel ESSAFI
Hi list
In my school, I need to have a PC that act like router since I have not
public addresses.

I have followed many link (
http://www.ducea.com/2006/08/01/how-to-enable-ip-forwarding-in-linux/, the
doc of fedora ).
All tell the same thing.

Unfortunally, When I follow them, I have no results! When I ping an adsress
from a windows PC (192.168.10.7) I have no response.

here is my configuration.

Can you help plz

how can I capture my desktop (video)??

2010-01-03 Thread Adel ESSAFI
http://www.kde.org/announcements/4.3/index.php

Hi list,
I want to make capture for my desktop. xvidcap is a good tool but it is not
suitable for capturing all the screen.
Have you any idea about the tool that was used to capture the video in the
link above?

Thanks

Adel
