Ideas anyone please?

Are you using x86_64 with just the i586 version of nss-mdns installed?
If so install the x64_64 version and that will likely fix your problem.

Yup, this fixes it. Thanks for the fix - but its a little wierd that I got
into this
place at all. I think I installed x86_64 F10 and then upgraded to F11.
I don't know why I have i586 nss-mdns. But maybe I misremembered
the above.
   Anyway its working now.

Ps Jim: Thanks for the ideas, but Bruno's fix was shorter.

Paul W. Frields just suggested the problem was I installed Chromium - he got
it in one!

IPV6 stuck on, F11

2009-07-21 Thread Bill Murray
  Hello all,
name lookups suddenly no longer work for me on F11. I have not used
this machine since 12th July,
but some updates (e.g. rpcbind) have occurred. Now I have big problems; e.g.
evolution,
thunderbird and ssh do not work. I can force ssh to work by typing the IP by
hand.
Firefox could not connect to host. But I discovered that if I set
network.dns.disableIPv6
then firefox works.

So I blame IPv6, and examine my settings. There is a toggle box in
system-config-network,
for IPv6, but whichever way I set it I get:

/sbin/ifconfig eth0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0F:FE:DB:DD:57
  inet addr:137.138.27.187 Bcast:137.138.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0
  inet6 addr: fe80::20f:feff:fedb:dd57/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
  RX packets:38327 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
  TX packets:27526 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
  collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
  RX bytes:49820676 (47.5 MiB) TX bytes:2575272 (2.4 MiB)
  Memory:f020-f022

dig , host and nslokup all work
charles zeitler may have had a similar issue a few weeks ago?

  Ideas anyone please?

Re: Suspend fails using fglrx on F10 (suvayu ali)

2009-04-09 Thread Bill Murray
 2009/4/5 William Murray bill.mur...@stfc.ac.uk:
  Hello all,
I have an old Dell D610 (R300) which was doing
what I wanted (films, openarena, tv-out, suspend) with Fedora
10 until fglrx 9.2 (or was it 9.1?) arrived. Anyway 9.3 didn't help.

Now suspend fails. Black screen if you try. The log file
  http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16312#
after reboot, thinks it succeeded. Does anyone have it working?
Do I have to unload fglrx manually?
Thanks for any clues - its a major hassle for me.

not sure, but this might be relevant.
 http://lists.rpmfusion.org/pipermail/rpmfusion-users/2009-April/000330.html

 Thanks Suvayu,
I don't think this is my issue; I do have X working, it is
suspend I lack.
I posted saying 9.3-2 had fiexed it, but this was premature. I managed to
suspend a couple of times, but that is it - it stopped again. So
annoying

Sorry, I'm afraid I'm of no help, but 9.3-1 works just fine for me on F9
with an M56P (Radeon Mobility X1600)

Are you sure its not something else specific to F10 instead of fglrx?

 Thanks Kevin,

If I revert to vesa it all works fine. Doesn't prove it was
fglrx's
fault. But anyway: 9.3-2 fixes it for me!
