How does the grub boot a specific operating system on Fedora?

For example, in Debian exists:

grub-reboot [num]

Thanks in advanced.

Re: Grub and two distros

For that reason you have to know that operating systems you have
installed, that partitions you have in your hard disk, and that partitions
you have in your operating systems, you must know your system, sometimes
grub it does not take into account many configurations and it is necessary
to do it manually, for that reason he is recommendable to know the
partitions well.

Fedora is very likely to recognize the partition in the installation and
add the grub, and to check the type of grub partitions have been
installed.

You can reinstall:

Enter the login screen and type Ctrl + Alt + F1

user: root
passwd: (your root password)

yum remove kde

After you uninstall it again:

yum install kde

Should not work here puts Xorg log to give us a guide of where the problem:

/var/log/Xorg.0.log

Re: can't log in after converting root filesystem

2009-01-03 Thread Gustavo Eli
I hope it works.

You use a livecd and in the terminal:

/dev/sda1 = / (your linux, as appropriate)

Example:

fsck /dev/sda1

mount /dev/sda1 /media/linux

chroot /media/linux

source /etc/profile

And change the password:

passwd

There is another way you can do in the event that the above does not work,
change the kernel version and so on ...

grub edit> kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9.42.ELsmp ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet 1

Press Enter, and the B, mode single-kernel boot. Once we can use the
passwd command to change the password for the root.

Passwd #
Enter new UNIX password:
