Dual monitor setup FC8
Hi, I have a Dell Laptop 640m. I have a Sony SDM-HS74 LCD attached on the VGA port of my computer. It kind of works ok but I have two questions: 1. If I maximize a window on the Sony screen (1280x1024) I only get the height of the Dell screen (800) with the bottom part of the screen undused. The toolbar however is still at the very bottom of the LCD screen. 2. I would like to get dual head setup, but I really can't seem to get it to work. I either get X-server errors and have to revert or I get no effect at all, i.e. two mirrored displays. Here's the output of xrandr -q Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1280 VGA connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 338mm x 270mm 1280x1024 60.0*+ 75.0 59.9 1280x960 59.9 1024x768 75.1 70.1 60.0 800x60072.2 75.0 60.3 640x48075.0 72.8 60.0 720x40070.1 LVDS connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 303mm x 190mm 1280x800 60.0*+ 60.0 1280x768 60.0 1280x720 60.0 1024x768 60.0 800x60060.3 640x48059.9 TV disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) Thanks for any hints. Font in emacs way too big after system crash
Hi all, I'm running Fedora 11 on a MacBook Pro. After a system crash (System failed to reboot) emacs opens with good looking menus and titlebar but with a huge window and huge window font size. If I in emacs reduce the font size from 12pt to 7pt it looks roughly like it used to (but uglier). I'm suspecting that something has happened to my Xfonts, running xfontsel yields: Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion Warning: Unable to load any usable fontset but I really don't know what to do here. Any suggestions are welcome. best, Henrik -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines
Touchpad on new MacBook Pro
Hi all, I have a new MacBook Pro on which I have sucessfully installed Fedora 11. For the most part it works really great but I have a problem with the touch pad. On the new Macs the touch pad has an integrated button so, in Fedora, the only way I can work it is to use clicking and dragging with the touch pad rather than with the integrated button (otherwise, a click on the button would first move the pointer and then click). This is all fine, except I can't get the Mouse Preferences "Disable touch pad while typing" to work with the result that I constantly happen to touch the touchpad while typing, hence displacing the cursor. The touch pad is quite big so it easily happens. I would be greatful for any hints or suggestions. /henrik -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

Latest kernel makes wireless connection to WPA2 router fail
Hi, I'm running FC11 on a MacBook Pro. After the latest kernel updates (to 2.6.29.6-217.2.16.fc11.x86_64) I cannot connect to my wireless router anymore. If I boot up in the previous kernel it works fine. Any ideas on how I can fix this? The wireless interface on this laptop is a Broadcom Corporation BCM4322. best, Henrik -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

Fedora 11 install on MacBook Pro 5,2 fails
Dear all, I'm having trouble installing Fedora 11 on my brand new MacBook Pro. With the live CD (x86_64) will computer will not boot stopping at a black screen, no messages. Booting from the DVD (also x86_64) the installer (anaconda) starts up, the first screen with the option to check media displays. The test passes but continuing eventually ends in a freeze with a small pointer displaying at the middle of the screen. I would really prefer to run Fedora than OSX on this machine so I'm hoping someone could help. I read a blogpost saying I should go for the 64bit version but maybe that's the problem? Or maybe, it's the dual graphics cards in this machine that confuses the installer (see below)? Any hints would be helpful and greatly appreciated. Installed Fedora 11 on MacBook Pro fails to boot.
Hi all, I've managed to install Fedora 11 on my MacBook Pro. I want a dual boot setup so I have a partition for the OSX, made smaller in order for the Fedora install to fit. For the partioning I followed the instructions found here: http://www.cenolan.com/2009/06/installing-fedora-11-on-a-macbook/ Though the installer finished without complaints I can't boot from the newly installed system. I'm using rEFIt-0.13 to choose boot partition and it recognizes the Fedora 11 install but once chosen I end up with a prompt telling me there is "no bootable device - insert bootable disk and press any key." Any suggestions would be appreciated. best, Henrik -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines
