   Serving my own problem;

   # yum erase gnome-globalmenu-common-0.7.8-1.fc12.x86_64

Seems to do the trick. I figure there's something very wrong with
   the gnome-globalmenu stuff.

This could well be the case. I do indeed have "globalmenu"
installed but also had it installed previously to me. Let me take a
small tour exploring that some time soon.

I am shooting completely in the dark here.

I recently installed globalmenu for Gnome. I enabled the integrate with
main menu option. Since then I have been unable to access the menus for
GTK apps even when I am not in Gnome. After I turned that option off, I
got back my menus.

Could it be you also had globalmenu installed at some point in time and
some remnant of that config is messing with your menus?

Just a thought.

It is simple, if you launch 'gnome-terminal' you have the option to
enable "Show Menubar". Click in the window left mouse button. There
you'll find a checkbox. If it is enabled then the terminal emulator
will show "[File] [Edit] [View] [Terminal] [Help]" tabs. This worked
  perfectly for me under F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9, F10, F11. But per F12
those seemed gone. I experience same with other applications (many)
  like my mailer 'claws'.

I did go as far as cleaning my entire default repos on the GNOME
desktop and rebuilding it. But it seemed not to help.

For many applications this is not a problem as they give you internal
handles to control the "Menubar" options. But some do not give you
  access to their configuration items.

Example is my default email frontend 'claws'. I have absolute no
control to setup and edit my preferences.

Hope this is enought info, if not let me know and i'll provide you
  screen shots.

Could you post a screen shot somewhere (not the list), because I don't

My feelings are that there is something wrong with GTK2 and
specifically with the configuration/setup repository as installed
   around /usr/lib64/libgnome-menu.so.2.

Many applications that have dependencies towards seem all to have
   lost their "title/window/dressing/top" menu's.

F12: Gnome "Menubar" missing on multiple applications,

2009-12-12 Thread Wim ten Have

   I recently upgraded from F11 to F12. Stepping into F12 i noticed
that many applications like 'gnome-terminal' no longer show their
"Menubar" where it is configured in my setup to be displayed.
Similar it seems missing on many other applications.
