[Bug 219915] New: Review Request: kio_resources - Kio_resources provides the resources protocol for KDE

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=219915

 Summary: Review Request: kio_resources - Kio_resources provides
the resources protocol for KDE
 Product: Fedora Extras
 Version: devel
 Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: normal
Component: Package Review
AssignedTo:
ReportedBy:
QAContact: fedora-package-review@redhat.com

Spec URL: http://tux.u-strasbg.fr/~chit/kio_resources/kio_resources.spec
SRPM URL:
http://tux.u-strasbg.fr/~chit/kio_resources/kio_resources-0.2-1.src.rpm
Description:

kio_resources provides the resources protocol for KDE.
It allows you to browse all installed files in the standard
search paths (generally .kde and /usr). The general format
of a resources URL is resources:/resource-type[/relative-path].
Thus, to view all wallpapers installed on your system, both in
your home directory and in the KDE installation path, you type
resources:/wallpaper. If you simply want to look through all
the available resource types, use resources:/.

--- Additional Comments From 2006-12-16 08:03 EST ---
All the issues you mentioned above are fixed, except the md5 problem.
The md5 of up stream source
http://nedudu.hu/downloads/audacious-docklet-0.1.1.tar.bz2 is
7503981a0a0ee229e5bdbe18553810db, which match exactly the one inside src.rpm.

The freezing preferece window bug does exist. A review of the source code
suggests that it is a bug inside audacious, but not the plugin. To be a quick
fix, I create a patch that removed the preference menu entry and related stuff
from the docklet plugin. I will try to notify the upstreams.

The SPEC and src.rpm

(In reply to comment #10)
All the issues you mentioned above are fixed, except the md5 problem.

Sorry, my fault.

To be a quick
fix, I create a patch that removed the preference menu entry and related stuff
from the docklet plugin.

Sounds good and the patch looks sane.

As all outstanding issues are fixed now, this package is APPROVED for all
versions of Fedora Extras (audaciuos is only in 6).

You are now at step 9 of the new contributor's process, see
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Extras/Contributors#head-bb3314e7b80fd98f037edd46f6d1efafbb611752

I'm also willing to sponsor you, but before I do I'd like you to get more
familiar with Fedora Extras, especially with
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Extras/HowToGetSponsored and
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Extras/UsingCvsFaq

Are you planing to release more packages?

OK - Packages %doc files don't affect runtime.

x86_64/i386 - Package compiles and builds on at least one arch.
OK - Package has no duplicate files in %files.
OK - Package doesn't own any directories other packages own.
OK - Package owns all the directories it creates.
See below - No rpmlint output.
OK - final provides and requires are sane:

SHOULD Items:

See below - Should build in mock.
i386/x86_64 - Should build on all supported archs
OK - Should have dist tag
OK - Should package latest version

Issues:

1. Same comment as from the python-twisted-names review about the %{python}
macro
You will be maintaining these packages so it's your call, but it doesn't
do anything useful for this fedora extras spec IMHO.

2. Might add the LICENSE and NEWS files in as %doc?

3. Needs BuildRequires: python-devel for fc7/devel.

4. rpmlint says:

E: python-twisted-conch no-binary
(which can be ignored in this case)

Issues:

1. Ditto the %{python} macro comment from the other python-twisted reviews. ;)

2. Should include LICENSE and NEWS as %doc files.

3. I see that this package is providing:
portmap.so (on i386)
and
portmap.so()(64bit) (on x86_64)
Should that be the case? Or should that be filtered out?
Thats a pretty generic .so name and it's not in a standard dir
where something could link to it.

--- Additional Comments From 2006-12-16 14:22 EST ---
The one issue with this package not being built for fc6 at least is that if it
was there the flumotion package could be built, which would fix a E-V-R problem
with that package. (flumotion in fc5 is newer than fc6, so people who upgrade
don't get an updated package).

In any case I am trying to move forward all the other python-twisted-* reviews.

Are there any that are not submitted yet? Or can we get this in once the other
pending ones are finished?

This review request should probibly be in the 'REVIEW' state, not the 'NEW'

Fixing the blocking bugs for that...

I see that the bug referred to in comment #10 is closed WONTFIX.
Is there a solution to the problem there?

OK - Package compiles and builds on at least one arch.
OK - Package has no duplicate files in %files.
OK - Package doesn't own any directories other packages own.
OK - Package owns all the directories it creates.
See below - No rpmlint output.
OK - final provides and requires are sane

SHOULD Items:

OK - Should build in mock.
x386/x86_64 - Should build on all supported archs
OK - Should have dist tag
OK - Should package latest version

Issues:

1. The obligatory comment about the %{python} macro. ;)

2. Should include LICENSE and NEWS as %doc files.

3. Needs BuildRequires: python-devel on fc7/devel at least.

4. rpmlint says:
E: python-twisted-words no-binary
(which can be ignored in this case)

5. Should the Requires on python-twisted-core be versioned?
I just noticed it isn't here or any of the other python-twisted-*
packages. Is core likely to upgrade in a way that is compatible
with all the subpackages?

(In reply to comment #0)
SRPM URL: http://deadbabylon.de/fedora/extras/lxpanel/lxpanel-0.2.4-2.src.rpm

Error 404.

I took your spec and built the package, but there are some things it don't like:

- Source0: should not use a mirror, instead use
dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/lxde/%{name}-%{version}.tar.gz

- BR startup-notification-devel?

- In the default config two starters (firefox and pcman-fm) are not working.
Please take a look at Chung-Yen's package at
ftp://cle.linux.org.tw/pub/fedora/cle/6/SRPMS/lxpanel-0.2.4-1.fc6.src.rpm
for a fix.

Some othe more thoughts: I think someone should also roll a pcman-fm package, we
should package the whole lx-desktop in extras. I have an icewm package that I
can offer. You and Chung-Yen should unite your powers on pcman-fm, lxpanel,
lxsession and lxmusic. What do you think?

As long as we don't have no pcman-fm package I suggest this starter should be
removed from the default config.

I don't know I will review this. however...

I am always annoyed when I have to check the
requirements for python related packages
(because this is not done automatically by
rpmbuild process). Please
check the requirements for this package and
add proper Requires.

For instance, driconf/driconf.py includes the line:
-
import pygtk
-
This means this package should have
Requires: pygobject2 (or pygtk2) .
