--- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-03-22 02:45 EST ---
Okay take a look at
http://jspaleta.thecodergeek.com/Fedora%20SRPMS/g3data/g3data-1.5.1-4.src.rpm
http://jspaleta.thecodergeek.com/Fedora%20SRPMS/g3data/g3data.spec
and
http://jspaleta.thecodergeek.com/Fedora%20SRPMS/g3data/build.log

i fixed the makefile so that its no longer stripped the binary
and its now using the RPM_OPT_FLAGS settings

cleaned up the spec to use %buildroot consistently

removed the duplicate buildrequires you indicated

fixed the permissions on the manpage as reported by rpmlint
rpmlint now runs clean for for my mock builds.

I've updated the spec to not have BuildRequires: autoconf. Not sure why I had
that, bit of a mistake.

New Spec and src rpm available.

--- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-03-21 22:34 EST ---

OK - Package meets naming and packaging guidelines
OK - Spec file matches base package name.
OK - Spec has consistant macro usage.
OK - Meets Packaging Guidelines.
OK - License (GPL)
OK - License field in spec matches
See below - License file included in package
OK - Spec in American English
OK - Spec is legible.
See below - Sources match upstream md5sum:
OK - Package needs ExcludeArch
OK - BuildRequires correct
OK - Spec handles locales/find_lang
OK - Package has %defattr and permissions on files is good.
OK - Package has a correct %clean section.
See below - Package has correct buildroot
OK - Package is code or permissible content.
OK - Packages %doc files don't affect runtime.
See below - Package has rm -rf RPM_BUILD_ROOT at top of %install
OK - Package is a GUI app and has a .desktop file
OK - Package compiles and builds on at least one arch.
OK - Package has no duplicate files in %files.
See below - Package doesn't own any directories other packages own.
OK - Package owns all the directories it creates.
See below - No rpmlint output.
OK - final provides and requires are sane.

SHOULD Items:

OK - Should build in mock.
OK - Should build on all supported archs
OK - Should have dist tag
OK - Should package latest version
11 outstanding bugs - check for outstanding bugs on package.

Issues:

1. Some of the translation files say:
po/lt.po:# This file is distributed under the same license as the PACKAGE
package.
Would be nice to say "system-config-date" there instead of PACKAGE?

2. Since redhat/fedora is upstream for this package, can you add
a note as suggested in:
http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/SourceURL#head-413e1c297803cfa9de0cc4c56f3ac384bff5dc9e

3. Please use one of the preferred buildroots, such as:
   %{_tmppath}/%{name}-%{version}-%{release}-root-%(%{__id_u} -n)

4. The desktop file is missing a valid Main Category, see:
http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/latest/apa.html
Suggest: System or Settings be added.
Without this, this tool shows up under a "Other" menu in Xfce.

5. Is the "ExclusiveOS: Linux" line needed?

6. Should add a
rm -rf $RPM_BUILD_ROOT
to the top of the %install section.

7. The URL points to a 404 page. Is there some better URL it could point to?

8. 11 outstanding bugs. Some look packaging related. For example:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=177301
Could be fixed by adding "Requires: newt kudzu"

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=231366
Could be fixed by removing "Requires: firstboot"

Are there any other Requires that should be adjusted?

9. Are these build warnings something to be fixed?

Description:
I realized that I was constantly re-creating a simple widget that will pop-up

required to create a button-click-calender.

- Package name changes and possible sub-package breakouts are needed.
- qpid is not part of any Fedora spin.

For these reasons, I recommend that qpidrb and quidpy be removed from Extras
devel until they are fixed properly. It is permissible to do such activity
within Extras within the next two weeks (possibly more), so don't worry.

--- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-03-21 17:34 EST ---
I noticed that the pkgconfig file created in a patch is not
right. Something dynamically linking against gd don't certainly
need all the link flags, they are needed when doing a static
linking, so the following should certainly be like
Libs.private: -lXpm -lX11 -ljpeg -lfontconfig -lfreetype -lpng12 -lz -lm
Moreover some of those have pkgconfig files, in that case it
should even be like
Requires.private: x11, xpm, fontconfig, freetype2
and the corresponding flags removed from Libs.private.

Not really a blocker, but it is important to have clean .pc
files to avoid over-linking, it creates bogus dependencies.

> - Warning from rpmlint on source rpm:
> rpmlint jakarta-commons-dbcp-1.2.1-10jpp.1.fc7.src.rpm
> W: jakarta-commons-dbcp non-standard-group Development/Libraries/Java
Group warnings can be ignored
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=225925). Since this is a
jpp based rpm, we try and keep the jpp and fedora versions as close as possible
(even on things like group names).

> - Warings from rpmlint on binary rpm:
> W: jakarta-commons-dbcp non-standard-group Development/Libraries/Java
See message above

> W: jakarta-commons-dbcp dangling-symlink
> /usr/share/java/hibernate_jdbc_cache.jar
> /etc/alternatives/hibernate_jdbc_cache
> W: jakarta-commons-dbcp symlink-should-be-relative
> /usr/share/java/hibernate_jdbc_cache.jar
> /etc/alternatives/hibernate_jdbc_cache
This package uses the alternatives system and needs to create a ghost symlink to
the directories owned by alternatives. Since this package doesn't own or install
the alternatives directories, it has to have a dangling symlink.

> - Debuginfo rpm contains no source files.
You will also notice that debuginfo is not mentioned anywhere in the spec file
:) Debuginfo is generated since this is an aot compiled java package and it is
handled by the aot-compile-rpm command.

Reopenning since it has not been accepted.

The release is still wrong.
It should be
Release: 0.1.%{SubVersion}svn%{?dist}

Please have a look at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/NamingGuidelines

In that case I think that it is best not to use an epoch but
also avoid incrementing the first release number, and instead
use:
1.0.%{SubVersion}svn%{?dist}
1.1.%{SubVersion}svn%{?dist}

Jim, this package pulls in and packages local copies of zope and plone. Is there
any way it could instead use the Fedora zope/plone packages?

Note that I'm not asking for %{include_zope_and_plone} to be set to no, but
rather that you use the zope and plone packages that are already in Fedora
Extras.

Well, I confirmed that you are now the member of
cla_done, so I guess you did the stage of
"Get a Fedora Account No.3"

However, I have not received a mail which notices
that you need a sponsor. So perhaps you have to
do the procedure from "Get a Fedora Accont No 4".
Again please check http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/Join ?

When you edit your account properly, the mail will
be sent.

ok, I've bumped the version to 2.004, incorporated the changes from comment #1,
and stole some of Steven's %description text from bug #232678

See:

and:
http://people.redhat.com/rnorwood/rpms/perl-IO-Compress-Base.spec

How's that?

--- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-03-21 13:01 EST ---
Good:
+ Naming seems ok.
+ Tar ball matches with upstream.
+ Local build works fine.
* Rpmlint quite on source rpm.
+ Rpmlint quite on binary rpm.
+ Rpmlint quite on debugin rpm.
+ Local install and uninstallworks fine.
+ Start of programm works without crash.
+ Mock build works fine.

Bad:
- Why you have a BuildRequires to autoconf, when you not call autoconf in the
build stanza?

Orion, we've updated our version to 3.5.1 (plus some fixes) and the spec file
works with EL4 and EL5 now - should be good for Fedora6/7 too.

--- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-03-21 12:35 EST ---
I believe the new patch adds these warnings:
sdlmm_audio.cpp
sdlmm_srect.cpp: In function 'SDLmm::SRect SDLmm::Intersect(const SDLmm::SRect&,
const SDLmm::SRect&)':
sdlmm_srect.cpp:77: warning: comparison is always false due to limited range of
data type
sdlmm_srect.cpp:78: warning: comparison is always false due to limited range of
data type
sdlmm_srect.cpp: In function 'SDLmm::SRect SDLmm::Union(const SDLmm::SRect&,
const SDLmm::SRect&)':
sdlmm_srect.cpp:88: warning: comparison is always true due to limited range of
data type
sdlmm_srect.cpp:89: warning: comparison is always true due to limited range of
data type

Should investigate, but not a blocker.

All other must fix items have been fixed.

IMO OOo should _not_ use /usr/share/doc/packages/ directory,
either.

I've fixed the URL. I suppose I could patch to change the path, instead of the
symlink, but as the version might change, the path could change. If we can make
an exception for OO.org, why not Vym? I also altered the ownership to cover
just the vym folder in that directory.

--- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-03-21 10:43 EST ---
- rpmlint says:
W: zisofs-tools summary-ended-with-dot Utilities for creating compressed CD-ROM
filesystems.
- release value is suitable but rather strange (why 3.2.2 and not 4, 5, 6.. ? )
- buildroot does not respect the packaging guidelines
(http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/Guidelines#head-b4fdd45fa76cbf54c885ef0836361319ab962473)
- SMP flags are not used. If they cannot be used, the spec should make a
mention about that
- the license (available in the tar.bz2) is not included in the package
