Right.

Well, I guess my opinion on this is known: I consider it to be a severe
mistake.

> but upstream seems to agree.
I am not familiar with this particular package's upstream, however many
upstreams simply tend to not taking "system integration" consideration into
account.

OK, I had assigned it to me because I had intended to do the review at some
point in the future, but I don't like to set the flag until I'm actually in the
process of doing the review in case somebody else wants to take it if I don't
get around to it.

This one builds cleanly and rpmlint is quiet. Not sure why I'm the first
person to look at it.

Could the %description perhaps grow some description of what "iFP" is? It's
not a big deal, but it would have been nice to not have had to look it up.

I haven't the hardware to test this, but nobody else with hardware has shown up
to review it, so

Files generated in %post (.db files) are actually created during running of
autogen.sh.

I have modified the upstream configure.ac to even get quick 3 and 5 generated
at once, too.

If you think that is a better solution for separating quick and cangjie into
different packages, I would not mind.

However, this involves creation of "quick" tarball on upstream sources system,
modification of current cangjie tarball, package creation of "quick" and its
review, etc.

Personally I prefer to do it after package review of all other 5 ibus-table-*
done.

I didn't know mono was unavailable in ppc64, so I put that in ExcludeArch. I
also filed a bug for this as required by the guidelines
   https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=489435
The x86_64 build was failed because a flawed version of mono is tagged in
buildroot. I filed a ticket to releng
   https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/1322
and let the mono packager know about the problem
   https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=489129#c4

Unfortunately, it won't be available to build mono on koji on F-10 until the
flawed version of mono is untagged. Meanwhile, the rawhide version is built in
koji:

That page is a little outdated. There is a new guideline for icon cache that

I'm guessing that Ralf's concern was that the program needs privilege to run
and so should be installed in /usr/sbin. Of course, the current default path
kind of eliminates the difference, but upstream seems to agree. Do you have
any thoughts on this?

The software seems confused about its license. The actual program clearly
indicates LGPLv2 (only) but COPYING and the included spec say GPLv2. The
software itself overrides, of course, but then I don't see the value in
packaging the useless COPYING file. Could you ping upstream and see if you can
get them to clarify?

Are you sure this really needs python to build? It doesn't seem to me like it
does.

So it's been many months now; is there any possibility of progress, or should
this just be closed?

These seem to indicate that the library should be linked against libm. It's
not a huge issue but I think you would want to fix it because otherwise it
shifts the burden of linking against libm onto the consumer of the library.

There are some duplicated files. README is present three times and
COPYING.LESSER is present twice.

* licenses are open source-compatible.
* license texts included in package.
* latest version is being packaged.
* BuildRequires are proper.
* compiler flags are appropriate.
* %clean is present.
* package builds in mock (rawhide, x86_64).
* package installs properly.
* debuginfo package looks complete.
? rpmlint has some complaints which would be good to fix.
* final provides and requires are sane:

   libwcs.so.4.3()(64bit)

* %check is not present; no test suite upstream.
  I installed and ran the executables, but I don't have a data set to pass to
  them, nor any understanding of what results I'd expect to get.

* shared libraries are installed:
   ldconfig is called properly.
   unversioned .so link is in the -devel package.
* owns the directories it creates.
* doesn't own any directories it shouldn't.
X duplicates in %files.
* file permissions are appropriate.
* no generically named files
* scriptlets are OK (ldconfig).
* code, not content.
* documentation is small, so no -doc subpackage is necessary.
* %docs are not necessary for the proper functioning of the package.
* headers are in the -devel package.
* no pkgconfig files.
* no static libraries.
* no libtool .la files.

The package review process needs reviewers! If you haven't done any package
reviews recently, please consider doing one.

Windows mimicking? Anyway, that's besides the point. There are standard
interfaces for killswitches, hotkey setup, and brightness control[1]. So this
shouldn't be on the tracker for netbook bugs. Fixing whatever needs fixing to
use the standard interfaces should be.

[1]: You say it doesn't touch brightness, but
http://greg.geekmind.org/eee-control/#features lists "Extended LCD brightness
(brighter and darker than the default range, not supported on all models)"

Hi Orcan,

I've reviewed your request. Please consider this as an inofficial review since
I'm new in the packager's group. I hope I could help anyway. ;-)

* rpmlint: OK
rpmlint RPMS/i386/gnome-guitar-* SRPMS/gnome-guitar-0.8.1-1.fc10.src.rpm
gnome-guitar.i386: E: no-binary
gnome-guitar.i386: E: only-non-binary-in-usr-lib
gnome-guitar.i386: W: conffile-without-noreplace-flag
/etc/gconf/schemas/libgnomeguitar.schemas
gnome-guitar-devel.i386: W: no-documentation
3 packages and 0 specfiles checked; 2 errors, 2 warnings.

as already explained in the request, these are false positives

* name: OK
- upstream has slightly different name: gnome-guitar_cs, but according to the
NamingGuidelines it is possible to change it e.g. if the original name uses
wrong characters or would be somehow strange ;-)
- ubuntu also already named the package without _cs

* spec file name matches %{name}: OK

* License: OK
- License tag matches actual license
- project ships gpl-3.0.txt in the various subdirectories
- no restrictions to explicitly 3.0, so GPLv3+ is ok

* License file packaged: OK

* spec file in English: OK

* spec file legible: OK

* source tarball match upstream: OK
- spectool -g SPECS/gnome-guitar.spec works
- sha1sum: b6ea73215c53a0b8bd11cc01f1a8969389170d57
gnome-guitar_cs-0.8.1.tar.gz
- md5sum: 9bb146c8667fe503739ae7ff8b4d4213  gnome-guitar_cs-0.8.1.tar.gz

* package compilable: BAD
- compiles in F10, i386
- fails at least for the 64 bit archs
- https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=1233610
- https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=1233605
