 Thanks for those changes, Paolo!

You're welcome! :-)

Are there any other issues with
these banners that need to be looked at?

I think we have definitives versions for both banners (small and big):

Released banner - big:
https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/7/7a/Fedora11-released-banner-big_1e.png
https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/b/bd/Fedora11-released-banner-big_1e.svg

(see Nicu's attachment in the previous email for JPG version)

Released banner - small:
https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/b/b7/Fedora11-released-banner-small_1.png
https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/f/ff/Fedora11-released-banner-small_1.svg

2009/5/11 Nicu Buculei nicu_fed...@nicubunu.ro

I think it is fine so I attached a JPEG version, which is decreasing the
file size from 125.4KB to 30.8KB with the cost of turning the corners from
transparent to flat white and an almost invisible lossy image degradation (I
think 96 is the optimum spot for file size/image quality in this case).

I agree with JPG choice, IMHO the big banner in PNG is a bit heavy for the
home page.

Thanks to all for the feedbacks.

Fedora release banners

The gradient in the logo is fine. The shadows on the logo and the '11'
are way too dark. See the most recent large release image on the
current fp.o for an example of what it should look like.

I've updated the banner with less shadows on 11 and logo:

The basic layout is good (maybe the placement ans size of the logo could be
better) but I think it would be an interesting idea to change the wording
somehow so it includes the F11 slogan (Reign).

I've two new versions, one of these includes the slogan Reign, but I'm not
sure that's ok...

Does this banner need to be translated under the websites freeze?
That freeze date is listed as today or tomorrow. I see one version
has the text available for download now -- if we plan to use it,
we'd want that text to be included in the website data that's frozen
for translation.

The version with the text is only a proposal, I think we can use a version
without text strings if needed.

By the way, would it be possible to make an updated version of the 1 day
banner? Right now, it says 1 days, and where it should be 1 day.
The same might be true for the Italian one.

sorry for the mistake, today afternoon I'll re-upload corrected version for
both languages.

I'm about to send the an email to fedora-trans-list about getting more
translations for the countdown. Any idea who I can refer translators to
if they need help work the graphics work and who they should send their
translated SVGs to in order to be generated?

You can give my contact (hydr...@gmail.com) for those they need some

I would include a few pixels from the pedestal, not being very happy with
how the drawing is touching the bottom edge. Maybe also move the coming

right and bottom.

This is the corrected version, could be ok? Anyway thank you for your

CC-BY is OK.
Not sure, crediting the author in the PromoBanners wiki page is enough
from a legal point of view? one have to seriously dig in the wiki in order
to find it.

I think that in legal terms crediting the author in the PromoBanners
wiki is correct, but I haven't the certainty about it.

It's much closer to the graphics we'll probably go with for the release

I think we can use wallpaper image for the release banner...in this way we
can have more variety on the homepage.

Re: Fedora 11 Countdown Banner?

2009-04-02 Thread Paolo Leoni
Hi there,
I confirm my intention about creation of F11 countdown and release banner.
Initially I've planned to make and propose the countdown banner to the
community around April 20th, in order to wait that theming process is mostly
completed.
If you want that the countdown banner is available before this date, I'll
work on it soon as possible.

I've read on fedora planet about a F11 countdown banner, but I've noticed
that it don't respect resolution requirements (200 x 100) for the home page.
If the author can read this mailing list, please correct the resolution if
you want to propose the banner to the community.

It is early, for the last releases we had it running in the last month or

AFAIK, Paolo Leoni from the Art Team, who did the graphics for F10,
expressed the interest to make them for F11 too.

The artwork used in the Beta release (Greek landscape with temple) is
going to be replaced with something completely different, so once we are
settled on the wallpaper graphic, the counter can be made to fit it.
