Just goes to show how wonderful you guys are to have loved the fur children
that much that you never forget them! I hope I'm always compassionate like
that. Having a tender heart like that is a good quality although it does mean
you hurt more than some other people.

[Felvtalk] PLEASE HELP FRENCH FRY

2011-03-17 Thread Linda Demiri

Hello Everyone!

I am DESPERATELY. Trying to save a 1yr old male cat from EUTH... He tested
positive on the initial test for FELV and also has a really bad case of
calicivirus(its basically a BAD URI). He was found in a borough of NYC
saturated in cooking oil. He is currently being held at Animal Care and
Control's at Manhattans Center. Anyway here is what I can do if you can provide
a safe home...I will outright have a local rescue pull him and then fly him to
wherever he needs to get to him to a safe place. Please email me with any
tips/ideas or ppl interested.

Thank you All

I have facebook, it seems that everything on my news feed is about animal
rescue. :-)

I don't have facebook send any notifications to me email (I've also got it
going to my spam folder just in case). If I want to read something on
facebook, I just go do it.

Facebook is a great resource for rescues, though! It is definitely something
to think about. It would help reach a wider range of people that normally
wouldn't pay attention to cats, let alone special needs cats (like our FeLV+
babies).

Sherry,

So sorry to hear of your loss. I have a weakness for black cats and lost my
sweet Chat Noir last month to FeLV. Although he wasn't with me for very long
he found a place in my heart with his funny, crazy antics. It's these memories

Yes, Amber and I have a connection now but I am very tender hearted and know
it
will be painful if her health gets bad.  We had to have our Great Dane put

It does warm my heart to see Amber safe, well fed, and adjusting to her new

You will get (if you haven't already) loads of really great and helpful
advice

Personally, I would say, if you have a heart-connection with Amber (which it

certainly seems you do) and you are willing to help her enjoy whatever life

had on earth, Go For It!
You may be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.  And Amber surely will be!

Re: [Felvtalk] Any advice appreciated.

2011-03-17 Thread Natalie
Our cats prefer the organic dried catnip - they eat it! They pay no
attention to the spray at all. In fact, even our dog loves the dried catnip
(has anyone heard that before?). I place the small toys into a jar of
catnip, that way there's always a scent on them, and recycle the toys - in
and out of the jar. There are some cats that don't respond to catnip at
all, and some cats don't playand the ones that don't, usually end up
finding their own toys like bottle caps, toilet paper rolls, etc.

Find a feather...maybe at a hobby storetease her gently. Also try
a catnip spray (forget the powdered stuff) and Feliway. Oh yeah, my
boys just reminded me that paper sacks are wonderful.

It is always painful when they leave but, if it wasn't, they would
mean nothing.

When you get to age 78, like I am, you'll have lost way too many
cats.. I still feel sad about cats I lost 30 or 40 years ago.

Great news Alice.  Rosie is a fighter.
Lots of purrayers for her.

WooHoo!! Rosie had a great check up today!! The mass in her throat / neck was
so

much smaller in just 3 weeks on the Pred / Leukeran regime. We are going to
decrease the Prednisolone and keep up the Leukeran. Ultrasound showed no
Lymphoma in her abdomen (so far)Her hot, red ears may get better with the
lower dosage. Dr said she had good color, no temp. Looks like with luck and
purrayers, she may be around to thump on Miso a bit longer!  Alice and the
kids-Rosie, Miso and Sachi (the 2 negatives I adopted a few months ago)

Re: [Felvtalk] Wyatt and Booker T. Please add to the CLS :( :(

2011-03-17 Thread Sharyl
Sherry, so sad to read that Wyatt and Booker T have crossed the Rainbow
Bridge,.  Both sound like awesome cats.  Each loss hurts but these 2 sound very
special.  You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

We lost sweet Wyatt on March 4. I sponsored this great orange boy with a
monthly
donation.
Booker T. we lost last night...he wasa crazy black boy that loved bare toes in
the summer and LOVED to give you hugs...both of these AWESOME Sids kids will be
missed VERY much. :(
Thanks all
Sherry
