it's absolutely worth checking out, but anecdotally, felv+ kitties sometimes

The four t-n-r ferals at Tractor Supply all have weird pupils.  I can pet 3 of 
the four.

I picked up Henry and brought him home Sunday night because he had an area 
under 
his eye that has not healed over several months.  It looks like a puncture 
wound.  


The  three original cat's eyes all seemed perfect when I started feeding them - 
- about 2 years ago.  Henry was trapped last September at a close by restaurant 
and relocated himself.  His pupils were perfect then.  There are several 
restaurants in the area so they spend time eating there probably - - deep fried 
"fish".  Tractor Supply puts out dry food.  I feed a can and a half of Evo at 
night.

Henry's eyes are way too dilated.  There is no blink reflex in one of them and 
a 
slight one in the other.  We are going to the vet on Saturday.  web sites talk 
about taurine deficiency.  The mama's pupils seem constricted.

I have never had ringworm, yet...but that stuff is very dangerous if
overused or not the right dosage.  I've heard of kittens and cats dying, and
then the owners blamed the vet...can't tell whose fault it was.

Pine horse bedding works well for a litter.  My guys came from a pine
thicket so it works really well with them.  40 pounds for $8 (?).  Of course

it) meat and lightly cooked with lots of juices really extends food and it

mix some extra water in...then let it sit for a few minutes or more.  The

need.  Does anyone have experience with ringworm and ferals?

These guys are wonderful but not the kind you can put medicine on.   
For numerous very good reasons, they consider me a good source of  
food, the area a good source of shelter and that is it. I can touch  
them sometimes and have tnr them (the price of the above) but good  
contact isn't an option.  And when things go in the food, all of them  
n=may get it.  This isn't bad since they are a very close crew,  
napping, eating and hanging out together.  I suspect that they get the  
same problems so mass treatment isn't a bad thing.  Any information is  
truly appreciated.  Three of the five cats showed up at older ages.   
We just go through treating one at the vets' for a tick borne disease  
(tick found on 12/27 when no tick should be around in southern KY)-- 
read $1000+ vet bill but Red is healthy and happy right now.   Like I  
said, we do what we can do.

50 lb bag of clay cat litter for $7 and mix it with the "nicer"
clumping
litter. It still works great and it stretches the good stuff further.
I don't know anything about reverse mortgages, I just bought my first
house (I'm 23) about a hear ago. Having special needs cats is
difficult when money is tight and I'm just starting out on my own.

Alice,

I'm so sorry to hear about Rosie.  I have followed your journey closely always 
hoping and praying your kitties would beat this.  I started my journey with a 
leuk positive mom and 3 kitties (Shelby, Mystique, Nirvana and Hannibal) who 
have all since passed so your story hit really close to home for me.  It has 
been so difficult to watch any of my cats go through this but I know it was 
really tough to see the disease take down one family member after another.  I 
hope you find peace in knowing they are all together again.  So sorry.

Rosie passed last night, I could not bear to watch her wasting away. The

syringe fed,
she couldn't eat-the mass in her neck got so large and hard. Her eyes became 
empty and
she just wanted to hide, she was miserable. When I came home from work last 
night, I 
knew it was time. Thank you to the wonderful vets and staff at Sacramento Cat 
Hospital
for staying late so we could help Rosie join her man, Murphy at the bridge-he 
passed in
October from Lymphoma and anemia. Rosie is our 6th and last FeLV kitty-her 4 
brothers
passed in their first year from anemia, despite all our efforts. I have never 
felt so defeated
and empty in my life. I did not have a clue about FeLV when we rescued the 
feral 
babies.
It has been a long and sad 2 years, Rosie and Murphy each just made it to 2 1/2 
yrs old.
Bless all of you fighting this battle-it is a long, and difficult journey, but 
these babies deserve
all the love in the world. Alice with Miso and Sachi-the 2 negatives we adopted 
when Rosie
got so depressed when she was left alone after Murphy passed.

My animals love all of the Blue Buffalo flavors (cats and dog), I'm lucky
because mine are not picky eaters. However, they tend to throw up when they
eat other brands... I can't figure out why. So I've started by mixing Purina
Hairball with the Blue Buffalo to make it stretch longer.

I'm also going to start to cook up some meat for them as a supplement. :-)
Buddy LOVES roast beef! Weird right?

Cat litter, I go to Sam's (or Costco, depends on where you live) and get the
50 lb bag of clay cat litter for $7 and mix it with the "nicer" clumping
litter. It still works great and it stretches the good stuff further.
I don't know anything about reverse mortgages, I just bought my first house
(I'm 23) about a hear ago. Having special needs cats is difficult when money
is tight and I'm just starting out on my own.

I am not sure how long the Vet Jet has been around, at least a couple of years. 
I am hoping that where we are now in NH I can find a clinic that uses it. My 14 
year old neg still gets the FeLV vaccine even though she is highly unlikely to 
get FeLV from Maggie as it is still possible.
I think it is great that you are thinking about taking in more FeLV babies. It 
is still very tough to find them homes and in most shelters and clinics they 
are still unfairly destroyed. Whatever you decide remember it's the quality of 
the years of their lives and not the quantity.

So sad for you that you lost Rosie so soon after Murphy.  She brought Miso and 
Sachi into your life so you wouldn't be alone. She knew they would comfort you 
when she was gone.  She and Murphy are together again.

Rosie passed last night, I could not bear to watch her wasting away. The 
Lymphoma had
beat her. We had her on Pred and Leukeran-which shrank the mass near her throat

first week, then it came back with a vengeance the next week. We increased it

other day on the Leukeran to no avail. She was also on Lasix, Lysine, iron, b 
vitamins,
Interferon. She always came into the kitchen and waited for me to give her the 
meds,
but the last few days she began to clamp her jaw, like enough. She was being 
syringe fed,
she couldn't eat-the mass in her neck got so large and hard. Her eyes became 
empty and
she just wanted to hide, she was miserable. When I came home from work last 
night, I 
knew it was time. Thank you to the wonderful vets and staff at Sacramento Cat 
Hospital
for staying late so we could help Rosie join her man, Murphy at the bridge-he 
passed in
October from Lymphoma and anemia. Rosie is our 6th and last FeLV kitty-her 4 
brothers
passed in their first year from anemia, despite all  our efforts. I have never 
felt so defeated
and empty in my life. I did not have a clue about FeLV when we rescued the 
feral 

babies.
It has been a long and sad 2 years, Rosie and Murphy each just made it to 2 1/2 
yrs old.
Bless all of you fighting this battle-it is a long, and difficult journey, but 
these babies deserve
all the love in the world.  Alice with Miso and Sachi-the 2 negatives we 
adopted 

when Rosie
