Re: [Felvtalk] retesting kittens
yep, two months..also for adults Marta http://homelessnomore.webs.com/ Seems like it's a couple of months after they test positive, that you retest, but wanted to check. Anybody know? ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
[Felvtalk] retesting kittens
I'm a volunteer and foster for a local cat rescue, and I always wait and retest kittens when they test FELV positive. I don't deal with kittens that much anymore, and forget the time period for the wait, but somebody local has had some test positive and needs to know about retesting. Seems like it's a couple of months after they test positive, that you retest, but wanted to check. Anybody know? Thanks! Re: [Felvtalk] Retesting
I hope so too!!! My kitty was negative on the ELISA test at 5 mos of age. He passed away from the FeLV at 9 mos. It was very sudden, and, of course, very upsetting. This happened this past March and I'm still in shock over it. As far as Miss Nora, you still need another test regardless if the first was a false positive so you can be sure and for piece of mind. Since she is still so young, you need to give her immune system a chance to clear the virus. If you can wait the 90 days, I would do that. If not test her again and go from there. Keep us posted and I will keep my fingers crossed and pray for little Miss Nora! She's about 6 months now. On 7/31/2011 7:34 AM, Lynda Wilson wrote: That time-line is about right. Some vets will say 90 days. If the Elisa is positive again, then do another IFA.
