Hi Kerry,

Yes, she's doing MUCH better.  She did vomit again in the middle of
the night, but it was a hairball.

She is sleeping at the moment.  I haven't gotten the labs back yet,
but when I do I will post them so that you guys can comment.

Hi Belinda,

The vet and I did discuss that possibility.

As for right now, they have not called me yet with the lab
results.  But I am happy to report that since my last post, she has
eaten and kept the food down.  There has been no vomiting since she
ate.

She is behaving normally, and is actually napping at the moment.
So, I am hopeful that it was just one of those things.

I'll keep you up to date on the lab results as soon as I get
them.  Thanks for your note!

No BM that I've noticed.  She just accepted some VERY watery wet Nutro
canned.  She didn't want water, so I gave her stinky food.  If she
keeps it down, then I'll feel better.

X-rays were clear.

When I get the lab results, I'll let you know if anything was

Good morning, Hideyo,

She's acting a bit more normal than last night.  She is still throwing
up though.  Various colors, some small hairballs in there.  Last night
the vomit was brownish green.  There were two puddles I found this
morning -- one mostly clear, the other dark pink.  Then another about an
hour ago another dark pink puddle.  And just about 15 minutes ago another
dark pink puddle with chunks.

She hasn't eaten so no stool.  No fever when she was at the vet last
night.  I expect to hear from the vet sometime today, so I'll take it from
there.  Right now, she's only getting water if she wants it, a tablespoon
at a time, but no food yet.

I ti s generally
best to take food and water away (food for 24 hours and water for 12, I
think) when they are vomiting uncontrollably like that, to let their system
settle. Pink could mean blood, I guess, like an ulcer or something. I think
I would take food and water away and if she is still vomiting in a few hours
take her to an emergency vet.  Most veterinary hospitals should have

if you explain the situation.

Thanks, Bonnie.   We did discuss that.  I don't have any
plants that she can get to though.  They're all up high, and she isn't a
climber, so it's highly unlikely that she ate a plant.  As for any other
pica behavior, she's never been prone to that.  She's negative, and has

Re: Need advice quick please

2005-09-30 Thread Terri Brown

No fever.  No coughing.  Travis is sneezing, but no one else
is.  Except me.  I'm sneezing like a fiend.

I found an open vet that accepts CareCredit.  Her bloodwork will be
back tomorrow.  Her x-ray and physical exam were unremarkable.  He
thinks maybe a slight gastritis -- which could be possible as she is food
motivated, and is probably overeating, mixing her Eagle Pack less active adult
formula with the Nutro Indoor kitten formula.  I caught her eating Travis's
food.

I was thinking that maybe she just overate, upset her tummy, then threw
up.  THEN, she probably went back to the food bowl to replace what she
lost, and gorged.  The vet agreed that this may be the case, since she's
food oriented.  So she's on a 12 hour fast (which means everyone is), and I
can start introducing water a teaspoon at a time in the morning and take it from
there.

I'm hoping that everything will be okay and she's just a piggy.

Cherie,

No.  She has been behaving normally otherwise.

I felt her belly, and I don't feel anything.  She's a little
tender, but I don't feel any hardness or obstructions, but I'm not a
vet.  She feels normal to me though.

I will check out the link.  Thanks.

Gang,

I'm trying not to panic, but Guinevere (2 years old, FeLV-) has
been vomiting since yesterday afternoon.  She continued to try to
eat and drink, but a little while ago, I tried to tempt her with her
favorite treats, and she refused them and them vomited up whatever water
she drank.  It has a pinkish tint to it.

Suggestions?  My vet is closed, and I spent all available cash
on Salome' 2 weeks ago.  I was approved for CareCredit today, but
the vets that take it are closed as well.

I ti s generally best to take food and water away (food for 24 hours and water for 12, I think) when they are vomiting uncontrollably like that, to let their system settle. Pink could mean blood, I guess, like an ulcer or something. I think I would take food and water away and if she is still vomiting in a few hours take her to an emergency vet.  Most veterinary hospitals should have some sort of fund to help out, or at least be willing to do a payment plan if you explain the situation.

Terri,
My experience with this was when my orange girl Rosalie ate a semi-
toxic plant. She got over it, thank heavens, but my vet x-rayed her to
make sure she hadn't swallowed something. When she hadn't stopped
vomiting for over 24 hours, he asked if he could do exploratory surgery
in case she had ingested something that didn't show up on the X-ray.
You might want to keep this in mind. I would call an emergency vet
for advice if she doesn't stop.
