Re: Elizabeth's talent-To Phaewryn
Actually, that sounds really feasible and is a great idea! This is something there's a need for and that can be marketed. Maybe you could make something really great and sell to Drs. Foster Smith. They have a great magazine. Or sell through Cat Fancy. After you'd patented though, of course. :) Wendy --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have to have a sense of stability and security...so I am biding my time in a high pressure position that requires absolutely nothing artistic or creative and makes me wish I had a valium IV. Re: Elizabeth's talent
You are too, too kind. Thank you from my heart. If I could do anything I wanted to for a living - I would do cat portraits. Sadly though - I live alone with 8 cats so I'm the only one paying the bills (plus, the kitties like to surf the web and use my credit cards when they aren't sneaking the car out to go joy riding). I have to have a senseofstability and security...so I am biding my time in a high pressure position that requires absolutely nothing artistic or creative and makes me wish I had a valium IV. I love to paint in oils and watercolors. Charcoal and pencil is one of the least expensive mediums to use so I rely on that a lot...plus fewer kitty paw prints in oil paint around the house :-) - the kids love to paint. I love pen and ink tooand do a little sculpture and some photography. All this - along with my gardening - is my therapyand Lord knows I need that LOL One of these days. Thanks for being interested! Re: Elizabeth's talent
I already asked her if she took commissions:) I see she already has a website. She could draw people's pets from photos, on a commission basis (not starting the work til she has a deposit). Just an idea:) - Original Message - From: Nina [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Wednesday, June 21, 2006 7:32 pm Subject: Re: Elizabeth's talent To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Oh my dear, you have a calling. I can see why you'd be reluctant to give up your daytime job if it pays the rent well, but I can't help feel that you should be working full time on your art! I'm itching to help you promote it. It might not ever be as lucrative, (then again, who knows?), but the benefits to you and the rest of our sometimes dreary world might just be worth it. I think everyone should do their best to incorporate their passion into their livelihood, if they did, the world would be a kinder place. Have you ever thought of framing them and offering them for sale? You could display the originals and then sell prints. Is your vet an upscale sort of place? Maybe you could start by putting some in local restaurants and/or your vet's office. You could sell them at charitable events/auctions... Hmm... let me think about this! Wow!! Your cats do that stuff, too (surf the web, use credit cards, sneak the car)?? :) I thought it was just mine. Spaz has practically kicked me right off the chair to enter her own blog entry on her site :). Also, I know what you mean about the job thing! Well, what I do is fairly creative, but it is very limited. And all the other B.S. that can go on working for someone else. I hope that one day you will be able to do it for a living, because it means so much to you. Re: Elizabeth's talent
Sorry, I forgot to say I'm glad I've been an inspiration and provider of hope, because that is just what I wanted to do, along with spread the message that, for whatever reason, Spaz did not respond at all to Depo-Medrol but had magnificent results with prednisolone. She would be dead now if I had not insisted on it.So thanks for the inspiration and hope you've now given me that my website/story IS making a difference! It really means a lot. I also know the feelings of desperation and helplessness, so to help another through that is a blessing. It is funny you said to kiss the kids, because I am always threatening to "kiss them 'til they have bald spots"! I think my husband thinks I'm crazy sometimes, but that's OK :).
