I really appreciate that others are pulling for her. She drank some water several times, and I actually got her to play some before she went to the vet. While there's no way for the vet to really know why this happened to Ember, she thinks it could have been due to the Advantage, which I will never use again on any animal of mine. Ember did not have a fever, which is good. She was given an injection, which I think might have been Centrine, and we were given several Centrine tablets for later use. One must be given in the morning, then we'll figure out if she needs anymore of them from there. She also doesn't get food for a bit, and the dry food is out of the picture for a bit longer than the canned. Ember seems to be acting much closer to normal. I'm still watchful and concerned, and I will be until all's clear.Lance

I definitely do not think it was the interferon. It is good she still has an appetite. Please let us know what the vet says. sending prayers, Michelle In a message dated 6/1/2006 3:11:34 P.M. Not long after that, she went to the box again, and this time, it was obvious that she had diarrhea. I cleaned her up a bit. Not long after that, she threw up a small hair ball, and then a bit more. It was pretty much just bile and fur. I stayed home from work to watch her. She's gone to the box one or two more times, but I can't tell what's actually come out. I fed her some yogurt, which she ate with her normal appetite. After a nap, she got up and threw some of that up, too. This really alarmed me.Ember had an extra dose of interferon alpha last night (we accidentally did six days in a row instead of the normal five days), but I wouldn't think an extra 1cc of that would cause this problem. I'm thinking it's the Advantage dose we put on her Tuesday night. I noticed that her neck fur was back to normal this morning (not crusty from the application), so it sure seems like she's been poisoned, hopefully in a very mild way, if at all. We're going to the vet, but I just don't know what she can do. Since Ember's felv+, I really want to keep all the stress off of her that I can. I don't see any way around going to the vet, though.I ask your prayers for Ember, that she will get over this easily and feel better tomorrow, and that this will not cause any problems in her overall health.Thank you,Lance

RE: prayers needed for Ember
Lance, I will be praying that Ember feels better soon. I would personally like to discourage all the flea/ticks drugs out there (advantages.. frontline ..etc..) My holistic vet warned me not to use on my cats at all due to toxicity level… I am hoping that whatever she is going through is an reaction from it and she will get rid of it very soon. Please keep us posted. Re: prayers needed for Ember
Lance, Of course you have my prayers and good thoughts that Ember gets over whatever this is quickly. Take a deep breath. The fact that she's eating is a good sign. I can tell you for sure that it is not the "extra" cc of interferon. It might be a reaction to the Advantage... She had no reaction on Tues or Wed? Is it possible that she could have gotten into something else last night or this morning? Does she have a temp? Can you take her temp at home if her ears feel very hot to you? Is she listless? Are her eyes bright? Does her tummy feel hard to you? Do you know how to palpate her abdomen to see if you feel anything abnormal? You haven't given her any new treats or types of food lately? Did you bring a new plant or cut flowers in the house? What does your vet say about the delayed reaction, does he suspect that it's the Advantage? Nina Lance wrote: Ember suddenly isn't doing well.
