[FFmpeg-user] Question about -re flag and how to avoid audio latency

2016-08-25 Thread Muammar El Khatib
Hi,

I am using ffmpeg to capture audio through a pulseaudio monitor sink and pipe it
to a webserver so that I can do streaming:

ffmpeg -loglevel panic -re -ac 2 -ar 44100 -f pulse -i audio.monitor
-acodec flac -f flac -ac 2 -ar 44100 pipe:

As you can see, I am using the -re flag, and I am not very sure if this is
useful in this case. Does it really make any difference to add it or not?.

In addition, I get certain latency that increases with time and it can reach
even 8 seconds being mp3 the most affected codec. I am researching about it to
better understand. However, what would you suggest me to try in order to reduce
latency for audio streaming?.

I would be glad to know your suggestions.

Best regards,

(Please, add my address to the reply, I am not subscribed).

Re: [FFmpeg-user] FFmpeg Intel icl compile (configure) issue

2016-08-25 Thread primarypower
Has anyone solved this issue already???

I´m having the EXACT same issue...

I´m trying to compile ffmpeg 3.1.2 (Also tried with 2.3.3) with ICL 2014 and
it does not work...

It must be something from MSYS2 environment...

If I compile it under MSYS 1.0 environment it works fine (And I´ve been
using it for years). But now I need MSYS2 environment because I need to use
Intel Quick Sync and use the library libmfx, but I can´t make it worn under
MSYS1 because it says pkg-config could not locate libmfx...

So.. a dilema... ICL won´t work on MSYS2 and under MSYS1 I can´t use
libmfx...

so just install opus-devel / opus-dev or just don't enable it at

[FFmpeg-user] High CPU use on Raspberry Pi with hardware encoding

2016-08-25 Thread Brian Snyder
Using ffmpeg 3.1.2 on a raspberry pi 2 with osmc/raspbian and getting
around 80 fps while the cpu is around %130.

Is this what can be expected using the h264_omx hardware encoder? I've
read various places online that people were getting around 160 fps
with very little cpu utilization. Just looking for other's
experiences.

Regards,
Brian

[FFmpeg-user] ERROR: opus not found using pkg-config

Hi,
I am getting error on ff-mpeg installing time.

ERROR: opus not found using pkg-config

If you think configure made a mistake, make sure you are using the latest
version from Git. If the latest version fails, report the problem to the
ff-mpeg-u...@ffmpeg.org mailing list or IRC #ffmpeg on irc.freenode.net.
Include the log file "config.log" produced by configure as this will help
solve the problem.

Re: [FFmpeg-user] Compiling FFMPEG 2.8.7 fails testing

There are three possibilities:

There is a bug in 2.8 that was fixed meanwhile.
If you test current git head, you will immediately find out and be
able to fix your issue.
(No effort for me.)

The bug you found still exists.
In this case, I will try to reproduce, meaning I have to find an arm
system, find out
which of your compilation option triggers the issue, etc,
(A major effort for me.)

There is a compiler bug.
This situation is more difficult;-(
Please make sure you are neither using an old, nor a compiler with a low
micro version number.

What I am trying to say is: Of course it is easier for me if you do
not test current
git head, but for FFmpeg users in general (and you), it may make more sense
if you'd test it.

I suspect --disable-runtime-cpudetect is never useful.
Are you really using FFmpeg on arm hardware without neon support?

[...]

> 4) make check

This is not the suggested method to test FFmpeg (I sincerely hope it is not
mentioned somewhere in the documentation), "make fate" is.

To continue tests after a failure, use "make -k fate" (not FFmpeg-related).

Re: [FFmpeg-user] Piping output of ffmpeg into ffmbc

2016-08-25 Thread Keith Reilly
Erik,
You have solved my problem. Now i understand how IMX works and now I
don't have to rely on a pipe from ffmpeg to ffmbc in order to process
certain files. In fact i'll just use ffmpeg for everything, even what was
working with ffmbc. The quality from ffmpeg looks slightly better to me.
One last question. Is there a website dedicated to encoding media for Avid,
and other broadcast devices, with ffmpeg. I know there is the ffmpeg manual
but that is a bit overwhelming and doesn't deal with requirments Avid has.
When i last researched this not to long ago I found ffmbc and i thought
that ffmpeg could do produce media for fast import in Avid. Obviously this
was wrong. The reason I ask is because i feel at some point my boss is
going to want me to start processing archival thats HD for Avid so it would
be good to start learning. Thanks for all your help.

Hi,
I assume that you have correctly set the audio to embedded in Desktop Video

Your console ouput is what I get with my decklink card (studio 4k) which is
working fine for audio capture.
The audio input stream is recognized.
The Shuttle is notoriously bugged.
Do you capture audio in other applications ?

[FFmpeg-user] Compiling FFMPEG 2.8.7 fails testing

2016-08-25 Thread MacFH - C E Macfarlane
I know that this group only applies to latest gits, but I'm not ready to use
FFMPEG v3, and so am using the last version of 2, and searching for this
error didn't find anything useful, so I hope you can help ...

I'm trying to test an apparently successful compilation of FFMPEG v2.8.7 on
a NAS with ARM hardware, as follows:

1) Apparently successfully, I've compiled and installed x264.

2) Configured FFMPEG as follows (have to cut down the exec size because
this is a NAS with limited resources):

./configure --prefix=/opt/share --enable-libx264 --enable-small
--enable-gpl --enable-shared --disable-debug --disable-runtime-cpudetect
--disable-doc --disable-armv6 --disable-armv6t2 --disable-neon --disable-vfp
--disable-vfpv3

3) make

... apparently successful.

4) make check

... fails with ...

TESTapi-flac
Test api-flac failed. Look at tests/data/fate/api-flac.err for
details

... but following help previously given here tried both ...

make SAMPLES=fate-suite fate-rsync
make SAMPLES=fate-suite fate

... and (but shouldn't 'make check' be configuring itself to use the newly
built libraries so that I shouldn't need to give the first command
explicitly?) ...

Keith,

I was using square brackets to indicate these parameters as optional, so
you need to leave these square brackets out if you want to apply the
parameters.

With your video filters line, "scale=720:576:interl=0:in_
> color_matrix=bt709:out_color_matrix=bt601,pad=720:608:0:32,
> tinterlace=4:flags=vlpf,setdar=16/9", i changed scale=720:576 to 720:486

This seems insane but that is what i'm looking at. I can clearly see the

Well, you almost got it. IMX format requires VBI to be put somewhere,
that's why you have 486 lines (not 480 as I stated previously) of active
video and 26 black lines at the top (in NTSC). Avid MC reports active video
frame size. VLC is "stupid" and will display the whole video frame,
including areas which in terms of broadcast video are inactive and will be
cut off after transmission. (It's always helpful to know how stuff was done
before there were -almost- only files.)
In conclusion you need to scale your video to 720x486 and the add 26 (not
24) lines/pixels at the top when encoding.
This is not insane at all, it just makes IMX a not-so-easy format to
handle. If you apply said changes to your command it should work out.
