filmscanners: Polaroid 120 at Photo Plus ...
I got a glimpse of the new Polaroid 120 film scanner at Photo Plus Expo in New York this afternoon. Here's what I gleaned from speaking with two reps: On target for a January release in the US Price has been set (alas) at $3,995 In response to requests from various product focus groups, Polaroid will probably develop a roll film holder (Yippie!!) to allow uncut rolls to be fed into the 120 (the scanner has a straight-through film path with slots fore and aft). There will be a film holder for 24x65mm panoramics; possibly in late 2001. Not much new here but it was good to see it in the flesh. Time to start saving. Dave F.

I would guess you could just use the regular 35mm adapter to scan panoramic (with the right software) -- did I miss something? Any word on 70mm ? The $3,995 is list price I think, hopefully we will see a somewhat lower street price. Re: filmscanners: LS 2000 hardware error: SOLVED
I get the following intermittent error while scanning through PS 5.5 under Win98: Scanner reported hardware error... Sense 0x052C. Apparently, the problem was due to the slides I was scanning. They were made from high contrast film, mainly transparent with just a two or three thin black lines. I assume that was not enough of an image for the scanner to figure out where it was. For the last two days I have been scanning "regular" slides without problems. Thank you to all those who made suggestions. Re: filmscanners: Polaroid SS4000 Extended Service Contracts
Yes, VueScan gives the same results. I hadn't changed anything except the scanner, so I didn't see any reason to re-install Insight. I just made sure the white and black points were something reasonable. I hope to talk to Polaroid tomorrow. I had left a message today at noon, my time, but that only left them 2 hours to respond (they're 3 time zone earlier than here). I have gotten calls before from them well after their nominal closing time, so these people are working overtime to serve customers. --Dana -- From: Tony Sleep [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: filmscanners: Polaroid SS4000 Extended Service Contracts Date: Thursday, November 02, 2000 5:00 PM Have you/can you try with Vuescan as well as Insight. Or delete and reinstall Insight (it dislikes installs over the top). Just in case the software is implicated.
