B&H web site shows them for $749.95 and in stock. It's where I got mine.

2001-12-28 Thread Tom Scales

Ecost (www.ecost.com) has them listed for $699, but it isn't clear if they
are in stock.
www.bhphoto.com has them in stock for $749

Does anyone have any recommendations on places to buy a SS4000 at a before
rebate price of $700 - $750? I'll of course accept lower prices to, if they
exist. Most places I've tried are out of stock or over $900.

I don't know, I have never seen a fault like this before. It really looks
like severe optical diffusion more than anything else - the spreading of
image from less-exposed areas of the neg into dense areas is typical.
Scanner lens contamination looks likely. But does it do this on all
images?

[filmscanners] Minolta Multi Pro

2001-12-28 Thread John Harvey

I would love to hear some comments from those who have had a chance to use
the Minolta Multi PRO. I'd like to hear some comparative reports. I've had
little response from other scanner groups. Is there something WRONG with
this scanner or is it just not available. I wish Tony would get back into
the Scanner review business. His reviews were very useful.

[filmscanners] SS4000 / LS30 dirt examples

2001-12-28 Thread P Elkin

Hi

Can anyone show the difference between how the SS4000 handles dirty film and
the LS30 without ICE. I am considering purchasing the SS4000, but I may hold
on to my LS30 for ICE incase of having to scan a dirty image etc.

Regards

Philip

[filmscanners] Re: filmscanners: Vuescan memory error

2001-12-28 Thread Ned Nurk

yeah its entirely possibly that you could have some faulty memory that only
shows up when you are trying to do a certain thing. I had that myself and
norton picked it up. whipped the simm out and everything worked fine
