[filmscanners] opinions? Reviews? of Primefilm 1800 ?
A client is interested in the PacificImage Electronics' Primefilm 1800. I have only found the few words Arthur posted about it, on this list, in March and February. I am unable to find reviews. As anyone tried it? How is it dealing with shadows and highlights details? My client will be scanning slides and MAY not enlarge them more than to 6x4. Because he only has a few 100s slides to scan he doe snot want to put too much money into it. Of course I have offered to scan them at a higher resolutions, but, we all know that doing the job oneself feels better... filmscanners: SCSI to 1394/fire wire?
About to buy a new PC, I am wondering if there is an adapter to connect my Nikon LS2000 SCSI (and flatbed) to a 1394 port. I am currently using an Adaptec 1940 AU SCSI card. I have contacted Adaptec and am waiting for an answer. May be some other manufacturers out there - which are hiding from my web searches? (Note : Adaptec USBXchange would be way too slow.) Re: filmscanners: LS 2000 hardware error: SOLVED
I get the following intermittent error while scanning through PS 5.5 under Win98: Scanner reported hardware error... Sense 0x052C. Apparently, the problem was due to the slides I was scanning. They were made from high contrast film, mainly transparent with just a two or three thin black lines. I assume that was not enough of an image for the scanner to figure out where it was. For the last two days I have been scanning "regular" slides without problems. Thank you to all those who made suggestions.
