Re: filmscanners: Noise correction algorithms
I have used a HP s20 myself, and I found this feature very useful. I noticed that the HP S20 software was able to paint e.g. in red all pixels that were being clipped by current histogram mapping settings. To me this seemed a handy feature, but no other software took over that idea.
Re: filmscanners: VueScan 6.6.1 Available
I got a Minolta Scan Dual II without any infrared channel. What would be the best Vuescan setting / version (6.6.0 or 6.6.1) to remove _only_ grain, not dust spots? Would an option in Vuescan which _only_ reduced grain be possible? Nimous * Modified infrared cleaning so setting "Options|Clean" to "Clean" only changes pixels in the neighborhood of dust spots. "Scrub" and "Scour" reduce film grain as well as remove dust spots.
