The current version of NikonScan 3.1 works fine. To use the Nikon software, you may need to install Adaptec's ASPI layer (... you should be able to find a XP compatible version at the Adaptec wwwsite...). If you want to use Vuescan, check Ed's wwwsite .., it seems to me there specific issues for XP behaviours, but it's a simple fix. In the end, your Coolscan will work. cheerios ... shAf :o) Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland www.micro-investigations.com (in progress) Unsubscribe by mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], with 'unsubscribe filmscanners' or 'unsubscribe filmscanners_digest' (as appropriate) in the message title or body
[filmscanners] Re: Nikon Coolscan 3 and Win XP
Julian - I upgraded to Win XP yesterday and also to Nikon Scan ver 3.1.2. You can get this from the Nikon website. My Nikon Coolscan 3 seems to work well with this setup. I previously ran Win 2000. The scanner does not show in my Device Manager hardware list, but I think that is related to my SCSI card and not necessarily the scanner itself. This does not affect its performance on my system. I know this scanner does not match the performance of the newer machines, but I have been very pleased with the 8 x 10 prints made from its scans and satisfied with the 11 x 14 prints. I also run Vuescan for this scannner under Win XP.
