This depends on the requirements of your printer. You could do worse than read the 'choosing and using a filmscanner' section at my site, especially the bits about resolution. Thank you for the information. I will be using the Epson 2000P for printing. I dont know if that would change anything. Thanks again. Mike
Re: filmscanners: LS 2000 newbie question
Mike I suggest you set resolution to 2700 pixels/inch (on the "scan size" tab in Nikonscan). I find it most convenient to use the mouse on the preview to select the part of the image to be scanned -- you don't need to put any numbers in the width and height fields, they will appear automatically to reflect the area you select in the preview. If you intend to print with an inkjet printer, you can just set the print output size in Photoshop (WITHOUT resampling). A full 35mm frame scanned at 2700 ppi and printed on an 8x10 sheet will end up at about 240 ppi, which is a good resolution for inkjet printers. Good luck, and keep asking questions... Peter Marquis-Kyle - Original Message - From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, January 26, 2001 10:07 AM Subject: filmscanners: LS 2000 newbie question I have recently purchased a LS 2000 scanner. Nikon documentation is subpar at best and their toll free customer support couldn't answer what I thought was a simple question. Maybe someone could help. Using digital ice software, what would be the the appropriate settings for the input and output width, height & pixel size to get a scan that I could cleanup in Photoshop and output to a 8X10 picture? I am reletively new to pixels and sizes to get appropriate images. Thanks in advance for your help. Mike

"ICE" should have very little to do with it, and most of these concerns belong to what resolution you may want to send to your printer ... OR, like many of us, you might consider scanning at the LS-2000's best resolution, and make all file size and resolution adjustments in PS. Many of these concerns are described very well at www.scantips.com ... enjoy your LS-2000 ... shAf :o)
