a few months later I can state that PAN-F scans a lot better, with respect
to the D-Max problems, with my new Canon FS4000 (and latest Vuescan
version).

I have some negs on it from years ago, so will have a look. But PanF always 
was notorious stuff, very easy to develop to such extreme DMax that it was 
hard to print in the darkroom. My negs were quite sensible though, I think.
