No, actually, just unlock them. On Mac it is command-U.

No need to unoptimize.

Or am I misunderstanding?

Right, but that's because you have identical assignment values in each
verse, so swapping the lyrics leaves the assignments intact. As I
understood the original poster, he had inadvertently put his verse 4
lyrics in the verse 5 box while putting nothing at all in verse 4. If
that's the case, then your trick doesn't work, because verse 4 has no
assignment values.

Can't remember how to do this...
I'm making some changes (trying to fix some bad page turns) to a file

adjust the spacing?

I know of no way to change them without redoing them.

What you might consider is entering text in the verse 4 box which says
"lyrics for verse 4 were inadvertently entered as verse 5", to serve as
a reminder when you revisit the file years from now.

Switch the lyrics using cutting and pasting, then Option-click (or
whatever it is on the PC) to click-assign the lyrics for the entire
verse with one click.

In case the above isn't clear, here's what I did: I typed the lyrics
for voice for in the verse 5 box and clicked-assigned them. I would
like to switch them to verse 4.
Hope that helps.

[Finale] Re: cross staff tremolandi FinMac 2k4c

2004-09-14 Thread Composer and Erstwhile Holidaymaker
From: Owain Sutton <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
That's some serious kludging you're doing there!...
Unless anybody here can give some insider knowledge on how to get TG
Tools to work for this, I think you really need to cut your losses and
create the tremolos manually.
Do you mean I should create the tremolo symbol in the shape designer
and assign it as a metatool?

As for articulations on cross-staff notes, I've had that same problem
before now. I ended up working-around by creating 'new' articulations
which are copies of the originals, set up to either always be above or
always below the stave, etc.
The duplicate articulation works fine...thanks!

From: Michael Cook <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Use the "Beam Stem Adjust Tool" in Special Tools to change the length
of that extra bit of stem.
TGtools creates a tremolo by first making beamed notes, then changing
the noteheads. When necessary it also hides the stems or alters the
length of the beams. (This is indeed how we always made tremolos in
Finale: TGTools simply automated the process). So to change the
appearance of a tremolo, you need to use a Special Tool that works on
beamed notes.
It is the Special Tool>Beam Angle Tool that seems to have no effect.
I have now tried another couple of alternatives:
For instances like b.265 I created a extra piece of stem as an
expression and assigned it by a metatool to hide the gap. That works,
but they keep moving about which is very frustrating.

For the unnecessary extension (b.260) I created a borderless white
box to hide the extra bit of stem. Again, that won't stay put.

Other solutions for consideration would be most welcome.

In bar 260 the extra bit of stem on the third beat seems unmovable,
at least the Stem Length Tool doesn't recognise it.
In bar 265 the loose piece of stem on the first beat is similarly
unresponsive.

They've actually extended the season of Road Construction to include March and

Estimado Allen,

You know that...

Summer has arrived ( when)

 The seed is growing
 And the meadow is blooming,

And the wood is coming into leaf now,
 Sing, cuckoo!
The ewe is bleating after her lamb,
 The cow is lowing after her calf;
 The bullock is prancing,

The billy-goat farting,
 Sing merrily, cuckoo!
 Cuckoo, cuckoo,
 You sing well, cuckoo,
 Never stop now.

Or approximately the 21st of June.

P.S. For you lovers of the Japanese old movies, I just saw Tokyo Story
by Yasujiro Ozu, and it is simply perfect.

Hello Listers,
(I originally posted this from a non-member address so apologies if
it appears more than once.)

I am having problems with the appearance of a cross-staff tremolo
for piano. An example is at the following URL:

http://www.stephen.cronin.name/example/tremolo.tif
I created the tremolo on the lower staff (Piano I), used TGTools to
create the appearance of the tremolo and then moved the second chord
to the upper staff. The problem is that I want to move the tremolo
lines between the staves but couldn't select them.

Subsequently I fiddled with the tremolo a bit more and discovered
that the tremolo lines can be shifted and reshaped on cross-staff
whole notes using the Beam Tool in the Special Tools...not terribly
intuitive since whole notes don't have beams.

However, I have a related problem with quarter- and eighth-note
cross-staff tremolandi as illustrated by the examples below:

http://www.stephen.cronin.name/example/b260.tif
http://www.stephen.cronin.name/example/b265.tif

In bar 265 the loose piece of stem on the first beat is similarly
unresponsive.

Any suggestions?
Further to these problems, when I assign articulations to the cross
staff notes/chords, some of the time the articulations refuse to
stay on the note-side and bounce back to the beam when I update the
score.

Again, any suggestions to sort this out would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Stephen
