Oh, I see what Andrew was asking now.
The tags don't reside in AIFF files the way they reside in MP3 files.
In other words, if the AIFF file is moved to another computer, the
artist, composer, year, etc. tags will be lost.

But that doesn't change the effect of the "Keep iTunes Folder
Organized" option, which works the same regardless of audio format.

Andrew, is there no "Consolidate Library" command in your OS 9 version
of iTunes? That's the command you really want -- it will move
everything to the iTunes Music Folder specified in your preferences.

By the way, if you have iPod other than the latest model, the one has the
gray wheel, I suggest AAC instead of MP3.

Apple did something really wrong on MP3 encoding in iPod. You hear
terrible artifacts, but they did right with AAC. Even I use Ethymotic
with my iPod, I couldn't hear much differences between AAC and AIFF.
After all, I don't use iPod in a quiet environment. And of course I
couldn't had stored my entire Miles Davis collection if I used AIFF :-)

If you mean extension, 'aif' is the correct extension instead of aiff
since extension by its spec needs to be 3 letters, while Mac OS is
forgiving since it also ID from resource folk.

Andrew, you can use the MP3 tags to reorganize your files. Set a

Have you tried this?
steve
I tried it just now. It seems to be already set up.
In any event, all my sound files are aiff. Aren't they higher fidelity
than MP3?

yes, of course. But the tags work in aif files also, AFAIK.

Yes. MP3 has lossy audio compression, AIFF has none.
However, with the latest version of iTunes, you can also use Apple
Lossless instead of AIFF. Sonically, they are identical, but Apple
Lossless files are twice as small as AIFF. You can also freely go back
and forth between AIFF and Apple Lossless, again without any
degradation, because it uses only data compression, not audio
compression.

Something to keep in mind if HD space ever starts getting tight.

[Finale] PDF Problems

2005-03-31 Thread George Ports

 Hi group,
I had the following problem a
couple of years ago and can't find the answer to it in my saved "Help"
archieves. Can anyone help me? Am using Fin 2003 and Win98 2nd
edition.  When I save as to a PDF file, the printout shows lines
around a graphic here and there.  They look like they may be part of a box
around the graphic (top and left side, not around the graphic
entirely). I had to redo a graphic now and then and am wondering if the
lines are from a previous graphic that wasn't placed exactly where the last
one was. These lines don't show on the moniter..just on the
printout of the PDF file.  The printout of the Finale file is fine
also. Any help would surely be appreciated. Thanks, George
