Re: [Finale] natural+sharp before the same note
When we played the Borodin 2nd Symphony in my community orchestra years ago we had the natural-plus-sharp to cancel a double sharp notation on several occasions. Confused the hell out of a lot of people (as did some of those unexpected trans-caucasian augmented intervals!). ajr At 5:00 PM +0200 10/2/08, Johannes Gebauer wrote: After an f## I would like to display a natural and a single sharp on the same note, is this possible in Finale? John Older editions followed the rule that to get from a double-sharp to a single-sharp, it was necessary to cancel one of the two sharps in the double sharp. Same for double flats. There are still lots of music in print which uses this tradition -- Some of the Selected Studies books published by Rubank follows this rule, and I believe in the Klose Clarinet Method it can be found as well. These days, John, you're right -- all that it takes to move from a double sharp to a single sharp is to place the single sharp in front of the note. But I believe Johannes is trying to be as accurate to the original as possible. -- David H. Re: [Finale] Sudden Change in Document Size
As John Blane says, it's the Page Format for Score that isn't set correctly. Do this: - Go to a page where all is well. Make sure that a system on this page is selected. - Choose Resize Page (page reduction) The dialog will come up with the value for that page. Make sure that Page X though end of piece and Update Page Format are both checked. Press OK. - Do the same with Resize Staff System (system reduction). All three options should be checked here. Once you've done that, all pages in your score should have the correct format, and the Page Format for Score will have been changed so that any new pages will also be OK. A Full Band score I am composing looks fine in page view for the first 10 pages. Then suddenly pages 11-21 show up off the page. (BTW on a Mac 10.5, Finale 09). Changing percentage to 78% gets me close, but not an exact match. What am I missing? Gerry Kirk ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

In any event, nobody's raising any major issues at the moment, so the list is quiet. Could be a good thing, or it could be a bad thing. -- David H. [Finale] PDF problems
I have Mac OS 10.5.4, Finale 2008. I have a little clarinet solo that I was printing on tabloid, landscape, 2 up. In Finale I printed to PDF. Then I realized that I really wanted the .pdf to be on letter size, portrait. I redid it, overlying the first one. In Preview it looks fine. However I am using an open source store and I uploaded the .pdf to the server. However, when you click on the link to View the Sample, it is displayed in Preview on tabloid, landscape!!! I deleted the .pdf on my computer and on the server and started over and got the same result. I have about half of the songs are letter and half are tabloid, landscape. It is nuts. Any ideas? Thanks. Re: [Finale] PDF problems
I am getting really varied results depending on whether I am on a Mac using Firefox or Safari or PC with IE7 or Firefox. Maybe this store software is not a good idea. On the PC the images didn't show in the catalog. Jane Frasier wrote: I have Mac OS 10.5.4, Finale 2008. I have a little clarinet solo that I was printing on tabloid, landscape, 2 up.
