Re: [Finale] Fin2012 upgrade

2011-10-23 Thread Florence + Michael
A full install is more than two and a half gigabytes (it's the Garritan sounds
that take up most of the space). The installer needs to download those
gigabytes from MakeMusic to your computer, taking more or less time depending
on your connection speed and how busy the MakeMusic server is.

On Mac there are two problems with the installer: first, it adds two zeros to
the percentages, showing from 100% to 1%, and second, its estimate of the
time remaining is wildly wrong. After a few minutes it told me that there was
about a minute left until completion. It kept telling me this for two hours,
which was unsettling. After a bit more than two hours, the installation was
complete, which is normal for my internet connection and the size of the files.

Re: [Finale] Right-left page annoyance

2011-10-23 Thread Giovanni Andreani
I some times work around this problem by exporting pages in an image format
(tiff, eps) and then importing them in a DTP software: there I'll set the page
numbers and their position.

I'm really confused by this thread. Setting up page numbers on whichever
side you want them is trivially easy, so what's all the grousing about?
Someone explain to me exactly what they want and I'll tell you how to do it.

You mean actually editing the page number assignments so that the even
numbers are on the left corner of the page and not the right? And the
same for the odd page numbers being on the right corner of the page?
That's easy? C'mon, it must take at least, what, 2 or 3 clicks! Double
that to get both even and odd pages and you've got 4 or 6 mouse clicks!
A person might get arthritis with all that mouse clicking! ;-)

Of course it is easy to change. (The only lister who implied it was not
hasn't actually used Finale since sometime in the late 50s.) I still
prefer, as a general rule, odd pages on the right, etc.

Considering some of the arrangements I'v e been doing, all of the pages
can be considered odd.

Hmmm...

Re: [Finale] A More Basic Bill Duncan Font Question

2011-10-23 Thread Neal Gittleman
Thanks, Eric… Now the follow up.

Opened Font Book, clicked on Add Fonts, chose the True Type ones, and got this
message from "Font Validation": "24 serious errors were found. Do not use
these fonts." (That would be one error for each of the 24 fonts.)

What now?
