Re: [Finale] page tiling

2014-05-26 Thread SN jef chippewa

once you print to PDF in your larger format, you can also print to
letter-size, selecting fit to printer, if it is just scratch copies.

another thing, if it is only the vertical space that is a prob, what
about formatting the score for legal paper? if also horizontal this
doesn't help, but could be a solution for this stage of things, and
you could reformat later for the final print. of course nothing
beats an 11x17 (or bigger) printer :-)

The other option to consider would be to adjust your margins (make
them smaller) just so you can print to letter size. Then resize
before making the final version of the piece.

OK--perhaps I should clarify my question: has anyone had success using the
page tiling feature in Finale 2014?

I have never tried Finale's own page tiling in any version.

That's because I use the page tiling feature in my printer setup. I've used HP
and Epson printers, and they have always had this feature -- and it works.

You might want to look into getting a wide-format inkjet printer. HP and Epson
both have wide-format printers that will print up to 13X19, for between about
$150 to $250. I use an HP Officejet 7000 e809 that, if I recall, cost about
$220.

At this time I am trying to print some working copies of some score pages that
overflow the 8 1/2 x 11 that I use in my printer. I don't want to reduce the
pages any more as they are already a challenge to read. I understand that the
process of printing these large pages on more than 1 sheet of paper is called
tiling. I have tried to print some of these pages checking TILE PAGES under
FILEPRINT, and I have tried using TILE OVERLAP to 0 and 11 (inches), and all
I ever get is the first part of each page. I am using Finale 2014 under Windows
8, and a Brother printer.

2014-05-26 Thread Williams, Jim
Tile overlap should be set to something like one-half inch or one inch--isn't
it the area of content common to the right side of one page to the left of the
other, to allow for good alignment?
