Re: [Finale] Folders

2015-03-25 Thread David Woodard
I am sure some capable Window's 8.1 guru's could solve that for us, but I
don't have the bucks to go asking. After months of loosing files with my
new 8.1 computer, I can finally find my way back to the same file folders
by starting to save the desktop more and not have such deep file folder
systems. During Spring Break, I hope to back up on my Google Drive and One
Drive systems that both Google and Microsoft provide for free, as I lost
lots of musical sweat and toil saved from Windows XP system to Mac system
to 8.0 & 8.1 during the last 6 or more years with one drop of my laptop
down a stairway. The Great thing I am finding as I recreate exercises that
I sought to create since 1987 when I started this Journey with Wenger Music
Writer, is that at long-last, my Finale skills are getting competent to the
point that I can solve most problems with work-a-rounds instead of quitting
in frustration for weeks, months or years until desperation drives me back
to the Software.

Now that I am teaching Chorus with poor piano skills, I can put up both
parts and accompaniments on the smartboard and teach what I cannot play,
while finally figuring out how to teach and learn solfege/takadimi at the
same time. Now if I can just figure out how to hook up a good sound system
and SmartBoard to my computer at the simultaneously.

Re: [Finale] Copying independent time signatures

2015-03-25 Thread Stephen Lamb
Yes, that's the way I do it. I've also come across instances where, for
example, I notated an aleatoric orchestral passage using stemless notes and
invisible tuplets, and copying it always broke the tuplets. The thing I found
that finally worked was creating staff views of each single staff I needed to
copy, and then keeping stack selection checked when copying and pasting.

You can create a staff view of just the independent staff (or staves) and
then you can do a full stack selection. I just tried this and it seemed to
work. I don't know if there are caveats.

Thanks, that will help but I really want it to back like it was on Windows
7 and I can find nothing in windows preference or setup to achieve this.

Thanks,

Lawrence

Lawrence - do you know you can open many files simultaneously? Just
highlight all the ones you need when you're opening a file. I do it very
often when I'm making minor changes to a score and set of parts (I still use
Fin2005). Then you can save each file one by one in the folder that Windows
remembers.

[Finale] Copying independent time signatures

2015-03-25 Thread Darcy James Argue
Hello,

If you have a staff that is set to use Independent Time Signatures (via a Staff
Style), is there any way to copy those independent time signatures without
selecting an full measure stack (as Finale normally requires you to do in order
to copy time sigs)?

Cheers,

There is a FinaleScript that will print a folder of files in a single
command.

Thank you - I feared as much. Is there no way to change it. I have my music
organised into a fairly deep system of folders and it's driving me mad to have
go through a whole forest path when I need to open more than one file,
especially like, as was the case yesterday, I was dealing with music created in
old Finale where every instrument was a separate file and I needed to open each
one to print it. (They were quite heavily formatted)
