Re: [Finale] old file blues
Thanks Jan, your first tip (DO>N&R>R>H) solved the problem. It seems the font mapping had somehow become corrupted over time. Good to know this can happen – and how to fix it. Grüße aus Frankfurt! Select the Staff tool, then highlight either the entire score or just the section where you want to optimize (hide the empty staves) and under the Staff Menu the words will be black and selectable. Just below it is the option to Show Empty Staves. Don't rely on the index in the help file -- unless you already know the Finale terms and how the editor chose to index things it won't help. Try searching under "Empty Staves" to see if anything shows up. -- David H. It's called "hide empty staves" - not able to check exactly where it is at the moment. [Finale] Whatever happened to "Optimise"?
Hello Listers, I've found out how to hide a single empty staff, but not found an equivalent of the 2000 "optimise" which would hide all the empty staves in however many systems of a score I chose, with one command. Have I missed a renamed equivalent in 2014? I tried the Index on "optimise" and "hide". I've just been looking at a lot of complicated stuff about Group Attributes, but I haven't been using groups and don't feel the need for most of the scores I'm creating. Quite often I'm transcribing music originally written for voices, or perhaps for piano, and simply have numbered parts which get allocated to whichever instrument(s) / player(s) from my current bizarre line-up happen to fit best (adult learners, no minimum standard and few limits on numbers of a particular instrument). The present 38 players are: 6 flutes (1 double pic and also, another bass flute), 3 oboes (1 doubling cor A.), 7 clarinets (1 doubling A & T saxes, another Bass Cl.), 3 more A Saxes (1 doubling T), 1 bassoon, 1 French horn, 1 tenor trombone, 8 violins, 4 violas, 4 cellos. The most elementary is probably in her 50s, started learning violin last September as her first ever instrument, with no previous musical experience. Re: [Finale] old file blues
Did you check if the half-rest symbol is still set correctly ? Maybe it somehow changed to the (bb) ? Go to: Document Options->Notes and Rests->Rest Characters->Half Maybe you can select the correct rest symbol there ? If it still doesn't work as it is a broken font issue, you can switch the rest font to a font that still works fine (which of course affects all rests of the document). Go to Document Options->Fonts->Notation->Rests Best regards from Hamburg, Jan Angermueller Am 29.05.2015 um 12:42 schrieb Eric Fiedler: > Has this ever happened to anyone on the list? > FinMac 2012c.r13 > I've opened an old file created toward the end of the last century (I'm not > sure what version of Finale this was), and everything is OK except the half > rest, which has been replaced by the double-flat-in-brackets glyph (bb). [Finale] old file blues
Has this ever happened to anyone on the list? FinMac 2012c.r13 I've opened an old file created toward the end of the last century (I'm not sure what version of Finale this was), and everything is OK except the half rest, which has been replaced by the double-flat-in-brackets glyph (bb). Is there anything I can do to get the half-rest back short of buying some kind of font manipulation software? Thanks for any thoughts and/or advice on this.
